2 take off the ring pull and the bit that gets popped into the can
3 get sharp knife
4 wash cans
5 with sharp knife make a cross in the base of each can and push the cuts inwards -slows the heat and spins it in the can
6 glue cans together
7 make a box to house the cans
8 ensure that you leave enough room for a header and footer ,basically a couple of inches to collect the cold air entering the unit
and one at the top to store the heat
9line the box with foil and insulation
10 perspex front stuck onto thefront of the box
thats the basics ...youtube the videos theres build designs and dimensions on there
i did this first one as a test to see if it worked ...it does
try painting a can black and then standing a glass jug over it for a few minutes and see how hot it gets ...
if i get a new laptop ill provide pics and details ,if not then youll have to make do with the odd post from me

I can imagine this taking off in rural areas. could be great for cellar/barn heating, and other projects. can't wait to get out into the country myself and start doing projects like this..
ideas like mine and suburban semis don't really mix
If I owned an opticians, I would get the sign printed in a blurry font.

what about using night storage bricks from an old night storage heater ? paint em black store them in an insulated box with heat exhausts running into your house ? same principle but using a denser material ...even if it only gives you an hour of heat after sundown thats 365 x 1 hour of heat per year ,thats gotta be a saving on your leccy or gas

im building a new greenhouse that will lock onto the outside toilet of our house ..the whole back wall of the greenhouse is gonna be made of solar cans possibly with a little solar panel to power a pc fan to pump the air into the house ..
the little can heater i made has run all summer superbly ..heating the toilet ..which in the daytime does not go above 15 deg c normally ..this year its been constant 23 in the day and 18 at night ..success ..now to take it to the next level and really make use of the greenhouse heat and draw that in ..even if we only get 2 hours sun a day thats 2 hours heat for free ..start building this week ..the green house itself will only be 4 ft wide by 4 ft long by 2.4 metres tall .
anyone with suggestions then feel free to tell me
ps i plan on having some 2 litre pop bottles painted black and stuck to the back wall of the greenhouse ,filled with water they should heat up in the day and release heat at night to keep the greenhouse relatively stable heat wise

Nicely done sir. Impressive, just a thought on your current project how close is your greenhouse to the house and how you planning on moving the heat??

O yeah that makes sense mate, I was just checking I really don't think there would be any point if it was touching the house, I'm guessing that when you say backwall of the greenhouse you mean the wall against the house?
Sounds like your all over mate, if I have a thought I'll pop back but sounds like its under control.
