Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me out here as im really confussed.

I would like to set my gow tent up so that during the lights of period my extraction fan runs on the slowest possible setting that the fan speed controller has. (If it is on any faster then this during lights of the temperature drops to much and my environment becomes to cold)

When the lights are on however I would like it to move to a faster setting that brings the temperature down below 28 degrees as if it was to stay on the slowest setting it would get far to hot in there.

The alternative would be to turn the fan up each night at 6 when the lights come on and then back of at 6am when they go of but its a but impracticall.

I have tried to follow the Diy thread created by OT1 but it leaves me a little confussed.

Can anyone tell me what I need to buy from B&Q tommorow so that I can set it up please, It really woiuld be appreciated and make my environment better.

just buy a honeywell thermostat (T6360) and wire it to your fan, for ghetto temp control. Works for my old man, but does shut off extractor (he got bigger balls than me)

but Im gonna grab the voltage stepping unit from fantronixx and hopefully wire the thermostat to that.. still comes under a 100 quid, plus you get the added benefit of voltage controlled, no buzzing!!

So I need to go to b&q and buy a t6360 honeywell thermostat. Will I need to buy an additional fanspeed controller so that in effect I have 2 for the extraction fan, one set to the slower speed which is what it will be running at all the time and one set to a faster speed which will kick in once it has got above the temp I set my thermosta to???

I got a CMS fan controller with a temp sensor. It takes a bit of setting up but will do the job for you.
The temp sensor is attached to the coltrol box so it is hard to position at canopy height. Could do with one with a remote sensor.

you only need one fan speed controller ,
set the speed to what you wont it to run at ,when it gets to hot the thermostat kicks the fan to full speed , (the thermostat overrides the speed controller )
once the temps are back down the fan goes back to the speed you've set it at.

Surely I need two dimmer switches.

1 set on the slowest setting and the
2nd set on near enough the fastest setting to clear the room of heat once it's gets hotter then what I set the t6360 thermostat at

no you dont have to have 2 controllers ,
once the thermostat kicks in the fan gets full power via the thermostat
