Thanks for your help Arnold, using reg seeds for first time and only got space to crack a few beans at a time but as soon as I get a female or two I start a diary.

I potted up into 1 litre pots from the clone pots today and into my first batch of JABWAJI - it's a lot rougher than the plant magic I'd used previously, quite a bit of roughage and plant matter, chips etc... the Plant magic is far smoother. I guess this is to help with airing the soil and aid drainage?

It holds water very well however - these pots are far heavier than their PM equivalent and took a lot more water before run off.
Some say it doesn't make a difference..... Others say its the difference that makes it.

Commercial composts like BioBizz Allmix or JAB&JI are sold as a ready to use product; as it happens both contain perlite. But they will have added it to a precise balance. So adding more is not only of little point, but it also risks upsetting that balance. And why spend cash when its not needed? ;)

Greenoval, you did riddle the compost first, before potting up, yeah? Quite important to do this, as it removes all or most of any unwanted crap that might be present

...er... Not as such, no.

I used the ever so amateur 'left hand as a riddle' technique - pouring from the sack with my right hand, breaking up clumps and fishing out sticks in my left hand as I went.

I'll certainly be dropping by Wilko on the way home to get one now that I've learnt that lesson!

I heard a good trick today...roll the bag round while before you cut it...breaks all the lumps up

There is no need to add/dilute it,Autos love the stuff and only a few have ever needed a tiny ammount of grow at about wk5 of the final pots at wk6 (final pot) the fert runs out and you go straight into feeding them bloom.

Great thread.

I purchased 3 bags of JAB MP+JI late last year from a small garden centre in the South East.
All 3 contained no perlite. Seemed like nice stuff though.
I have started a grow with it, currently in week 4 of flower and I'm only just considering whether I should maybe give them a feed!
If anything it seems a little hot. Most of my plants showed slight clawing and some tip burn during veg and I only gave water, but otherwise no problems at all so far.

I just bought another 3 bags from the same place .. and it now has bits of woodchip in it.

It is sounding like there are quality control issues depending where you are. Up here, its business as usual, with maybe a wee bit less perlite, but even that I'm not sure of.

I'm the same buddy?
Small wood chippings instead of the perlite in the 20 litre bags.
I'm away to pick up a few 60 litre bags.
I've never had jab with ji with any noticeable perlite.
It's still all good though, plants love it.
I'm up nortn also 54 lat
