hey tywyn been havin the same probs as you just couldnt keep the temp stable 30 ish ,so it got me thinking and ive got some water goin now now in a slow cooker one of those things you plug in and do stews and things like
ive put it on the lowest setting and hooked it up to a timer its coming on for 15 mins every 2 1/2 hours
its been on the go now for 15 hours and the water staying round the 30.c mark , im gonna give it 24 hours just with the plain water to see how it holds up ,then do the proper thing ... seems like a lot of fcuking about but bet its gonna be worth it
e2a you need to do a test run first ,my first time i had the timer switching on every 2 hours and the water went over 40.c so needs a bit of fine tunning

As I said I've got a water heater, but it needs 2.5L to cover the min water level, and that's in a 3L bottle which is filled to the top, but I aint making up 2.5L to spray a few bonsai mums. At £12 a pop for the essence, it really isn't cheap. They really need to think this product through for your average home user, as getting temps within the range is a massive pain in the arse.

It's the bonsai mothers that I've been growing under a T5 that are affected.
IMHO a good wetting agent/spreader, added as I fill the sprayer is more important than seaweed, I never bother with a heater, I just use warm water about 35c and bubble it in the airing cupboard over night and spray in the morning. My take with infected plants is the sooner sprayed the sooner they are protected.
guys you are all going on about maintaining the temps but are you all ignoring the post by Oldtimer1 above!
I'm sure you can heat a saucepan of water to 35 c then go and bubble it in a relatively warm location. I've never bothered with maintaining the temps but if you are that bothered go and buy a cheap heated prop and put your water container on that to brew it.

I tried the heated propogator in a tent with a 450w oil rad yesterday, but I gave up after I noticed the temp had dipped to 26c and plummeting, so the warm location thingie is pretty much blown out of the water I'm afraid mate.
Edit: I just checked the mixture now and it's gone up to 40.4c. I'm fucking raging now as it's spoiled and will have to start again. Tbh I honestly can't be bothered with fucking about. The mood I'm in now I feel like tosing the bonsai mums away and just growing from seed. This really is way too much fucking headwork.

e2a: I'm sure his airing cupboard does not keep the brew temp above 26c

I'm wondering.
Am I on ignore?
E2a - You can also put your litre of brew inside a container and place that inside a larger container filled with water and your heater. That's how I do it. It's a piece of piss to be honest, I don't know why you're getting yourself in a flap dude.

No you're not on ignore but it speciaficlly states 1 teaspoon per litre of both essence and molasses. Giving it 1 teaspoon per 2.5l would dilute it far too much surely? The water heater is 27cm long far too big to fit in anything I have here, although I havent tried a bucket. I have managed to get a stable 31c by placing the 2L plastic jug (with 1 litre of brew in it) in a glass bowl, which in turn is in a plastic bowl, which in turn is in a large cauldron type pot. It's the same brew that went up to 40c at one point, but I'll not throw it. I'll try it out and will make a new brew in the next 5 days anyway. It's still a pain in the arse though.
I'll try the water heater in a bucket next time, with the 2L jug in the bucket.

Its the last time I'm gonna point this out to you, and if you want to go on stressing your self out rigging up all manner of complicated contraptions to maintain temps when its not really needed then so be it.
good luck

Got to agree again, another point, on paper instructions that come with the essence no where does it mention heating only not to use water above 31oC.
Seriously I've had my batch down at 22oC and still foaming and very active. not that i normally check the temps but on that occasion the room was colder.

I've floated a 2L jug in a 10L bucket with a thermostat controlled water heater for the past day or so, and even though it took some time I managed to get a stable 30c in the jug with 1L of water, so it shouldn't be a problem in future. The instructions say for best results brew between 30-33c

Not needed as I've managed to get it sorted with 1L, but thanks anyway.
