My dog has been diagnosed with lymphoma

Been a long week for me, found that my dogs lymph nodes were enlarged so took him to the vet. They drained some fluid from a node and had it tested and its come back as lymphoma.
Me and the mrs are in bits, he doesnt seem ill at all, he is still jumping about like a puppy (hes 12)
Was just wondering if anybody knows anything or has previous experience about treating dogs with cannabis oil or similar? Obviously i can make my own but just wanted to make sure it was safe for him and some ideas of the dosage.
Like i say we must of found it early as he isnt lethargic or sick or showing any signs of illness, he is eating well. Seeing as hes my best mate i dont mind sharing my crop with him!
Can anybody help shed some light?
Thanks.

Wish i could be of practical help, but I know nowt about veterinary stuff. But dogs can take cannabis, some even enjoy it and hunt it out. I don't know about your situation though.... maybe ask a vet, if you have one that is broad minded and trustworthy? Big If, i know....

I found a site h t tp://www.breedfreak.com/2011/05/dog_marijuana/ it has some information on cannabis for sick dogs.
h t tp://www.caninecancer.com/essiac.html also found this on my travels. I didn't read much though.

Im also gonna put him on a cancer diet low carb high fat with suppliments of fish oil and omega3 etc. Have been doing a bit of research on the subject.
Just wanna make him as comfortable as possible and give him the best chance by getting his immune system up in tip top condition. The chemo is the bit thats scaring me tbh.
He is an old man and i know hes had a good innings for a staffie, hes been such a healthy dog, this is the first thing he has had happen to him so i dont want to see him suffer from my selfishness of wanting him to live forever.
Thanks once again for the support.

Sorry to say dude I just find that cruel, do you know how sensitive a dogs nose is? Unless the dog has written I like blowbacks in capital letters on your living room table in felt tip pens how do you know he likes it? Perhaps he likes you and that's why he's coming back.
Christ the main reason I gave up my rollups was the smoke going up my cats nose and I rarely smoked when they were in the room!
I think there's a difference between feeding a dog medicinal cannabis and torturing one by blowing smoke in or at his very sensitive nasal area though. For that reason I hope the OP tries feeding the oil and I wish him and the wee dog every success!

Yeah i wasnt going to set up a bucket for him or anything, was looking into the oil/butter or tincture route. I dont smoke in the room with my dog for the same reason.
I will speak to the vet about it, im expecting a puzzled look and warnings not to do it though.
Been reading through a few threads on this and other forums for anything in particular to do with lymph cancer and cannabis in humans and animals.

Me and the mrs have both said we wont make him suffer for selfish reasons, if he wont eat or go for a walk or is in obvious pain then we are going to call it a day. He has been too good to us for us not to return the favour.
Its heartbreaking as any one who has lost a pet will know. I delivered him all those years ago and hes such a big part of our family. Weve just had a little boy (3 months) and was hoping he would get to spend a few years with him growing up. Hopefully he will. The worst bit is he seems so fit and well. Hes as strong as an ox so im sure he will try and fight it off.
Thanks for all your kind words, it means a lot to us.

with all the medical research thats coming out, and has been around for years, i find it hard to resist suggesting cannabis for animals, to people i know. cuts me up knowing that it could be of massive benifit to these sick animals and i cant suggest it out of fear of being labeled a madman
cannabis is the only medicine we know of that is benificial to all 210 cell types. man or dog.
go for it i say
the vet is bound to report any "cruelty" (most likly seen that way) so stay away from that IMO

particularly as you could give your dog the medicine without him having to be high.
