Help
High all,
I was wondering if it is okay to trim some of the top leaves on a SCROG grow to expose bud sites, Im growing super iced grapefruit and they are 4 weeks into flower.
Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

I wouldn't.
Would you cut the legs off a long distance runner, to reduce air flow or whatever?
Leave them leaves alone!
Good luck with your Scrog. I do a modified sort of half-scrog. Wouldn't do for most folks, but I likes it

Yeah dont do imho bud, trim the all undergrowth before flip then leave the top to do its thang, if the plant wasnt being constantly moved then all top budsites should of made their own space into the light anyway tbh

I think I ll leave it as is in that case, I totally get what your saying I just thought it looked a bit congested in there, apart from that everythings looking lush, Ive actually suprised myself with how well things are going as this is only my second grow and my first SCROG.

High skinnytoker1, I use a paperclip to just gently pull leaves out of the way to let light in. Hook the large one round the main stem and the small one round the leaf stalk

Hey Bhang Buddie diggin the clip idea, i normally just tuck or tie myself....how well do they hold n do they dig into the stems, need to adjust much? cheers

I train mine hard from the off.
I use a screen with 3inch x3inch squares.
I only let shoots grow from where the wires cross and all fan leaves get left on and pulled below the screen.
At day 14 of flower I cut all shoots back to the lowest bud site. Don't remove fan leaves till they wilt[mostly let them fall][I have done fan strippin before but they don't yield, leave um on].
Thats how I do it any how.
I got 21oz off a 3 very old sativa dom jack herea last grow in 1m2 under 600watts.

hi dude why not find out for yourself? Trim a little off one to expose more bud and see how it goes and then you will have the answer.I know Arnold says dont touch(and I respect his opinion cos he is an expert)Dont just listen to others and bear in mind that stress is not always a bad thing for plants ( I kick mine regularly)especially when we want more fruits.Another advantage is that a tiny trim helps with airflow and humidity, maybe better to have a bit less bud but no mould.Personally I chop off loads of leaf and my White Widows love it so if you do a lttle trim you will see if yours do.OK now tell me I am wrong but dont tell me I dont grow heaps of wicked weed

Think of the leaves as solar panels mate that feed the flower and not the other way round as some seem to see it.

This is what DNA Genetics says in the description of LA Confidential - "Thinning the large fan leaves in the later part of the flower cycle will promote more light getting to the lower buds, thus increasing your yield."
I removed some leaves during vegging of my LA Con, but this was to encourage the lower branches to grow, as they were completely shaded out and had stopped growing. I ended up getting my bottom branches to grow and come level with the tops by removing them.
There was a topic on this before where I think it was Godspeed posted some pics of his grow. He was doing a sog and removed all the big fan leaves twice during flowering and ended up with loads of sticks completely covered with bud, right to the bottom.

Do you believe everything you get told by a seed distributor then?
The plant has the leaves for a very good reason so its fooking pointless and damaging to the plant to remove them unless you are taking the under carriage out early on to encourage top buddage.Which sort of blows another horse shit bit of advice into the communal fable bin,
