hi all,

just looking for some quick advice. my landlord pays my electricity, which is annoying, because as far as i'm aware a 400 watt bulb will increase my quarterly usage by about 50 quid. now for an electricity company that's not much, but do you think a landlord would spot this in a 5 bedroom house (single tenancy)? given that an lcd tv uses about 100 quid in a year if you use it a reasonable amount (as far as i know - but i'm no expert), this seems a noticable, doesn't it?

what do people think? the only advantage i have is that the heating is on 24/7 because of my idiotic housemates. if i could train them to use the heating, and the timer, properly, that might go some way to disguising the consumption.

cheers

greg

You could blag it by telling him you have an air conditioning unit in your room if we actually get any Summer this year,if he challenges you that is :smokin:

cheers guys,

nah, he hasn't visited. ever. and i've been here 3 years. its actually managed by a letting agent. and they haven't been in in at least 2 and a half (to my room that is).

one other problem is that the previous tenant in the room upstairs was caught growing. however, he is an idiot, and likely was running a massive light/got caught for other reasons. the police never wanted to look in any other rooms (the place is single tenancy and there are locks on every door) and even had no interest when the tenant was arrested and imprisoned several months later for FAR worse offenses. they ripped apart his room, and the stairway next to mine - but there was never any interest in anyone elses room.

anyway, the guy is now at her majesty's pleasure, and has been for almost a year. realistically, while the history of the house sounds bad, i think its just a risk you have to face in a shared property (despite single tenancy).

well i'm not going to really have a choice for a long time on that front - and i've smoked weed in my room for 3 years with no complaints (which i'd cut out and go elsewhere if i started to grow).

ok, well if i got a 250 hps, is this not the equivalent of just having 5 or so more 60watt light bulbs in the house? or am i missing something? surely that wouldn't raise suspicion? we've got at least three bulbs that are bust in the house anyway....

I can't help with electrical costs but the PC is a good option...

However if you have been smoking weed in your room for 3 years then suddenly stop, isn't that going to be a bit suspect and draw more attention than if you carried on your normal routine? :wassnnme:

plus if you get a filter and it breaks can always blame the smell on some seriously good shit you got.

Just my 2p, hope it works out for you.

I'd just go for it mate, keep your door locked and make a point of turning other electrical appliances off whenever possible, that way it will kind of counter balence it.

When in flower you only have the light on 12 hours a day.

as has been said a computer uses plenty of watts, even a run of the mill one and can be expected to be adding to the bills along with a TV, monitor and often a games console..... get a decent sized high quality filter though, don't skimp on that, and a proper fan to supply it with the air to clean

yeah, think i'm going to get a 250w anyway, just to be safe. it'll also help with my heat issues in the room (although i'm getting a cool tube and it'll be right next to the window.

going to sound proof the shit out of it, and of course a CF. was thinking about some sort of sleak electronic lock (if they exist), or some sort of method to unlock the drobe from a secret hatch on the side/bottom. has anyone seen anything like this before?
