Thinking of going to iws

I'm thinking to go to a 8 pot iws flood and drain system.. I've only grown in soil a handful of times but would like to give this ago. Is the iws flood and drain a good system for a beginner? Any pro cons anyone who uses this system ?

thanks

My brother used to grow with a flood and drains system, always says it was really simple and easy.

Yeah was just speaking to the matey in the hydro shop.. wanted to get few opinions as they just make everything sound to easy to get a pound outta it you. Any idea what the bud was like at the end? Matey in shop said it's basically like a plant on steroids. I wanna produce quality bud. Is hydro better quality then soil do you know? Again done some research but get better answers from this site some good guys on here

thanks

Long time ago, but from memory it was banging.

Personally I don't think so no, any method of growing can produce the highest of quality if the person at the controls really knows what they're doing.

Generally speaking plant's grow quicker in hydro, but with that comes a risk, it's like driving a highly tuned car right on the limit, if all goes well you'll get there quickly, but things go wrong quickly plus there's more things to go wrong as well, so if you make a mistake the consequences can be a lot bigger. All that being said, the growth rates and yields I've seen in big organic no till beds match hydro quite happily in the hands of a master grower.

do it, get a flood n drain, but get one with bigger pots than the 10litre jobs.

its a really simple to use way of getting lots of bud.

mate of mine uses one and always does well, and his bud tastes the same as any other.

easier than dwc flood n drain or rdwc too.

i was almost pulling the trigger on an iws proXL system earlier in the year myself

@Bulldogbill91

This is a 1m2 flood and drain table, holds 100ltrs and can take anything from 1 to 25 plants depending.

I've converted it into a nine plant open flow automatic watering system as opposed to F&D as it needs no medium,

fitted in the pic with a rigid top plate, Roots are free to roam on the table or individual pots are an option as well.

This system is far quicker than soil/coco/compost, yield and quality is comparable.

Things can go wrong quickly in hydro but they can be corrected just as fast which would take far longer in non hydro

More pics and details in my profile...:yep:

I use the pro flood n drain and use 10 pots in the same space as yours,, i also use coco with a small layer of pebbles at the bottom of the pot and feed once a day but at the beginning i manually switch it on myself every otherday.. Im not keen on the new inner pots that come with the system as the bottoms are quite open and you get a bit of pebbles and coco drop through so i use the old punch pots,, its not that much of a problem tho so if ya cant get the oldies dont worry
