Working out how much my set is costing me roughly

Is the shed insulated? If not do that before you start getting the calculator out.

Yes its all insulated mate.

 

So Ive added everything up that I can find a wattage for and come out with 

2000watts.

 

The tube heaters alone are using 500w.

 

I havent been able to add the watts of the fanspeed controllers or the heat mat thermostats and I dont know if they will pullt hat much anyway as I expect it will be the load plugged into them and ive included them.

 

So working it out for the longest hours to over compensate and keep the home owner happy 

 

2kwh x 16 x 0.34 = £10.88 a day

 

I think thats right.

 

Feel so much better knowing roughly what im using.

At this rate, the price of growing and the price of a private prescription for medical weed in the UK will eventually reach par. I give it 6 months and prescription will be cheaper.

 

For anyone curious, it's a £50 online consultancy and £250/month thereafter for 1oz Dutch skunk. You can also get oil and tinctures. Not even sure they need medical notes.

I might look into mate so nice one for the heads up.  At £11 a day for 10 weeks is gonna hurt but I just need to keep reminding myself that its still better value then buying it and I have over compensated the amount.

 

I might see how the plants get on in the veg room with no extraction on and just open the door everyday for fresh air 

 

That way ill be able to loose the tube heaters during lights on.

 

Im also gonna get some bubble wrap for the water but as that should stop the 150w  water heater being on so much as at the moment its basically housed outside so its probably constantly on.  With a few layers of bubble wrap around it and possible a bit of cellotex underneath it, it might help to hold onto the heat better and for longer.

 

Im just doing some working out as one of the first replys mentioned the saving they have found switchjgn over to ec fans.

To work out how much that is costing me during the grow 

 

Do I go

 

60 + 60 + 30 + 30 

 

= 180

 

0.180x24x0.34 = £1.47 a day 

 

1.47 x 7 = £10.28

 

And if its a 10 week grow

 

£10.28 ×10 

 

= £102 just to run the fans 

If so thats an eye opener

how many ounces would you get from that would you hope?

like, I’m doing a small grow room, 150w led. Two plants. 4oz would be amazing and more than cover my expenditure. The equivalent to buy off my current guy would be 960-1,120

Hi, that will be ok for the first week when they’re tiny but as soon as they start growing properly the lack of fresh c02 laden air will slow them right down, a fan speed controller on low would be much better, i grown for 8 years in my shed and it took me the first 3 or 4 grows in the varying seasons to get it sussed, in a shed grow a thermostatic fan speed controller and plenty of insulation are your best mate’s

Cheers mate ill take your advise and leave it on.  No point learning the hard way when people have already been there and are trying to see you right.

 

Im not sure how much ill yield mate.  Ive got plants in 11liters of tropic mix and others in 6.  I think there is 9 in there in total and thwy have had a good veg tbh.  I expect ill use about 600watts of lighting matbee more if they dont show signs of stress.

 

I know a well executed grow should yield you 1g a watt but I doubt ill get that. I want to give a hempy bucket a try as I think that might yield more for me with less plants.

 

So thats the plan once Ive found a keeper

Better yet, use that big free grow light in the sky. Save 1400, free weed and find a new hobby that keeps you fit..

Get yourself a couple of AC Infinity EC fans,they'd pay for themselves in no time.I just run ducting from my main tent into the veg cab running the fresh air passively.

ive had mates scaling back duw to energy prices...what ya got to look at is your return from running the setup ?   i myself have a few flavours that i know it`s worth the cost !!! tbh i`m a skint jack bastard + i like to keep my carbon footprint green as best i can,thus why i run dope from stable mother plants,where i know time + time again i can reap the rewards.

 

 

my advice is butty weigh up the costs to the amount ya lungs need...  oh btw good luck      seeds !!

The way I explained the increasing leccy bill to the o/h was "babe it's 150 quid a month for effectively unlimited weed"

 

We consume a lot of pot tbh , an Oz can last us a week if we're frugal
