clawing
Clawing leaves HELP APPRECIATED

To whoever is reading this I could do with a little advice! My leaves are clawing and it’s doing my nut in! I’m in the 3rd week in veg under 600W HPS using canna aqua vega in clay pebbles, running a recirculating system.

24° in the room

50-60% relative humidity

1.1 EC in the water

i had an oscillating fan blowing on them I have now turned that away incase it was wind burn.

I’m currently watering 15 minutes every 1.5hr (played around and settled at this), is it too little perhaps?

I’m only running a single 600W HPS light for 6 plants which is roughly 80cm away from the tips so I wouldn’t think light damage so only other thing I can think is there is too little nitrogen in my nutrient solution however I’ve followed Canna’s feeding guide so surely it’s not that?

any help if you’ve seen this before and what it could be would be much appreciated!

Hello mate :) This will probably get moved to the help section somewhere. And probably some photos would help the experts here immensely :yep:

over watering causes this and 15 mins every hour and a half is too much.

i would knock it back to 15 minutes every 3 or 4 hours during lights on

It probably is...some pics would help but it sounds like too much Nitrogen...have you got an EC meter/truncheon and what's your PH?

ah yes, never spotted that, it will be overfed too.

feeding guides are produced by manufacturers to increse shareholders profits.

Sorry I thought I had posted images, I’ve just attached. My pH is at 5.8 which is the sweet spot.

the leaves feel dry to the touch so could it be under watering?large.22CCB81F-E165-4DE2-8C9B-0DBA4C7CB069.jpeglarge.1A1B72C3-1DBE-4435-8B38-8AC996756CB0.jpeglarge.545CFE63-977B-411A-ACDB-7497F1065D73.jpeg

Depends on plant size and root mass, mine's currently 3 weeks from germination, 15mins on every 45mins,

24/7 lights on and off and they're praying...

(wait 'til you see the gap on the new system...;))

That looks like a subtle combination of water stress (too much of it) and overfeeding.

Would I be correct in saying that the downward cupped leaves feel brittle and kinda crunchy?

Yes brittle and crunchy exactly!

I’ll start by reducing feed time to every 2.5 hours and if no different reduce it to every 3/4 hours

if the issue persists and the water reservoir is over nuted would I be right in emptying the res and starting fresh and reduce nutrients?

appreciate the help guys I really do!

@Growowow honestly mate I'm a mud man , not a clue.

But it definitely sounds like a fresh cleaned Res would help, can't possibly make it worse .....

Can it??

Temps want getting up to around 26-28 and make sure that your nutrient temps are at around 22 degrees

I would also do a complete water change

you should be changing out the water every 10-14days too, to prevent the build up of salts
