trim machines

Anybody here use the hand cranked trimming machines you can get?

What do you think of them?

A few members love them. Others don't rate them at all.

Personally I would say it's down to the size of your harvest and how long your prepared to spend in trim jail.

A moderate harvest can easily be hand trimmed to a high standard.

Bigger crops are either gonna take much longer or you go for the convenience of a spinpro and take a slightly lower quality trim job.

My mate who grows ALOT told me the other day he uses a hand crank trimming machine. I was absolutely shocked as his buds looks great and I would never had thought they had been in a trimming machine.

I use one for crappy lower buds and it does a really good job. Prime buds hand trimmed once dry......

I must admit I looked at getting one of these myself but was put off by the fact that from what I can work out there OK with trimming your bud if you have rock solid nugs, more loose buds, from what I read can get chopped up so left it.  It did however lead me into doing what I do now, no more wet trimming for me, cut the branches off, trim off the big fan leaves and hang for 10+ days to slow dry it, I then use a silicone pastry brush to break off all the smaller leaves, so much flipping quicker and it allows me to only have 24hrs downtime in my flower room, b4 I was taking a week or 2 to trim, not due to having a huge room, to do with absolutely hating trimming and finding quite literally any excuse to only do it for a few hours at a time rather than power through it lol

Thanks all, I bloody hate trimming and its even worse this time cos I had to move fast cos of a touch of the bud rot, hope i've saved it. I think for the 130 quid i'll give it a go. Mind you I might try the pastry brush first!

I always thought these things look quite small but actually having a look you can get some right big ones, they do a 24inch diameter one, it's a bit more expensive.

i use one, and it works well for big crops. it trims fine but there is a few things you need to do for a better end result.;

  • pull all the large fan leaves off by hand first
  • remove all buds from stem, cutting as close to the bud as possible
  • dont overload it
  • turn the handle S L O W L Y, in one direction. (dont worry its still about a fifth of the time of hand trimming)

do the above and it will turn out almost as good as hand trimmed, or if it bothers you, you can hand trim them once they are dry.

i wouldnt want to be brushing them with anything, unless you want to lose a shitload of trichomes.
