auto chedz in watery wonderland

31 posts in this topic

hello again and welcome to another great adventure in watery wonderland.

i am gonna be doing some cheese varieties in here, in my green qube 120 by 120 tent (great tents, buy one).

i will be doing them under good old fashioned HPS and ultra modern LED, a 600w HPS and a 240 watt LED.

the bottom left has the LED driver, top right is the Ballast and variac fan controller....its tidy in here eh?

large.8.JPG

the rdwc is a home made one, an update from my 2 pot system which i last had in here, its got 2 maxijet 1000 pumps, feeding some hose which goes into two tees just under the lid of the totes.

its also got 2 airstones per pot, fed from a big 60 litre airpump, the green thing in the pic below

large.7.JPG

its a simple system, and should do well enough.

the seeds are leftovers from my other grow, they are Dinafem blue cheese and cheese XXL autos.

ivegrown both of them out before and they are good.

heres the rdwc set up, first the res, 2 pumps, aquarium heater and floom returns from the pots.. a tight squeeze.

HPS on left, LED on right.

feeds are my old faithfull ionic, i went a bit nuts, they are at 0.8 ec, which is really way too high, but im not sucking out 40 odd litres now.

ph is 5.8. i also added silicone and silver bullet roots.

system leaked when i first set it up, not much but still annoying. i drained it all down, mopped up the mess and added extra rubber gaskets on 2 of the pots.

filled it again last night and so far its looking ok, no water, so lets hope it stays that way..

should be fun, aye......

nearly forgot, heres the plants, this is day 1

well, ive burnt them already, doh, im gonna empty 10 litres out and refill with water to lower the EC, and slap myself for being a lazy dick.

they arent too happy, ill get the water level a bit lower too, to help keep the ec and ph in check.

i had a spare cheese xxl so ive stuck it in mud, with a feed of some molasses water to get the micro herd going and a splash of tomorite. its in its final pot, a bitg one, probs about   12 litres but i dont know, just guessing

large.1.JPGlarge.2.JPG

temps are good at 26 rh is too low still at 36%.

ill be back

got 2 airstones per pot,

This is just a little reminder,I know you know what you're doing, you've been doing it a long time, but as we get older we tend to forget things! keep an eye on the ph,it can rise with airstones.ATB mate :yep:

5 days later they havnt done much at all, apart from one of the cheese xxls. the other 3 , well, my fault, i was keeping the water level below the pots, and i think the roots have dried right out, as they are seriously stunted. i havnt been able to check on them since thursday but went in tonight for a look.

kinda wish now i hadnt.

Ive drowned them tonight, upped the water level about an inch above the bottom of the netpot, but it might be too little too late. :(.

i will give em a couple of days and see if they come back, but being autos, well you know what like

well, heres the pics, it will give you a laugh if nothing else.

The stunted dwarf team are getting shot out of the shed on the end of a size 12. the one thats doing ok im gonna keep, cos ive soaked another 3 to fill the spaces (hows that for confidence, soaked 3 , needing 3 hahaha, ....no chance with my luck lately.

here you golarge.3.JPGlarge.9.JPGlarge_10.JPG

and the last one standing, the decent survivor.

Why did it survive when the others all dwarfed on me....just to fukn annoy me, thats why....

last pic in the middle is the spare cheese xxl i put in mud....should have put them all in mud

might as well update this one, we are on day number something, about 3 weeks if i mind right, and as you can see they look, ...well, lets be honest.....they look pretty crap.. lol .

However, we will blunder on regardless. i took the small LED out of here, to put over the little seedlings, so this just has the HPS in here, set to 600w.

the 3 stunted plants, well you can easily spot them , eh?

ive no idea why the 4th grew properly, maybe it was buried a bit deeper in the pot or had better roots to start with, i dunno.

the 2 blue cheese autos on left, ched xxls on right

large.3.JPG

heres a close up of the blue cheese, its got dropped ends to the leaves, i think i over fed it a bit to try get them to recover (1.0EC) .

And yeah, i know the humidity is too low, but my humidifier is elsewhere, like my wallet....

large.2.JPG

the ched xxl looks like its got signs of over feeding too.

ive not bothered much with these, i actually planted a few auto beans to replace the smaller ones, but they have picked up a bit now (typical)

heres the xxl, ill be back in a week or two with more bad news im sure, so dont move that dial.....

large.1.JPG

on the plus side the ec and PH have been rock solid in this little system, ive not phd down for a week at least and the roots look pretty mint, so i will try and stay optimistic........

yes, i know exactly where i went wrong with them.

when i first transplanted them, the water level was too low so they didnt get enough juice at the end of the first week,  and i couldnt get to them for 4/5 days.

They were stunted from that moment. they stalled for about a week, and are just starting to get back with the programme.

Being autos it will definitely affect the end result.

well a few days later and things aint looking much better. the blue cheese front right has thrown out crispy twisted leaves, almost like cold shock, but the temps are fine, so i dunno. i did top the system up on thursday and have only had a look in now, maybe too much water.

anyway here they are today at 4 weeks in the water, im embarrassed to say.

large_10.JPG

the xxl on the right are doing better than the blue cheese on left,

heres some close ups.

2 blue cheese, then 2 ched xl

large.7.JPGlarge.6.JPGlarge.8.JPGlarge.9.JPG

i did another spare cheese xl in mud, its overtaken the lot of them, the shame....................

large_17.JPG

feeds are at 1.2 ph is at 5.9 will see how they go i suppose.

im sure ill get something off them, but not as much as i would have liked.....such is life

changed the res on these today, im gonna give them another week, and if they aint improved drastically, they are getting fucked off ouota here, the hydro system is getting pulled out,  and im gonna flower out the mother plants in mud, and the psychotropics.

the 2 blue cheese are looking grim as, the cheese xxls are looking ok, but nothing more.

We are now starting week 5 and the outside temps increasing wont help the "no chiller" scenario.

At 5 weeks the tent should be pretty full, and it is laughably no where near. The plants arent even past the edge of the netpots.................. im embarrassed to post pics of this grow....................seriously considering coco and some blumat drippers for this tent......thats how bad it is.....:)

i did 4 autos in here at the end of last year, in bubblers and they filled the tent,.................................... ohwellnevermind.......................

im feeding them at 1.2 ec and 5.6 for the ph.
