1 droopy plant. help needed

20 posts in this topic

Hi all,

I posted earlier about same grow, different issue (one of my three is having a bad time, topic linked at the end)  but my other issue is, of the two remaining plants, both of which were thriving, one is now drooping, growth has slowed and the other one is still doing great. same strain as each other. Same feeding. Is it overwatered?  They are 27 days old, White Thunder. EC is currently 850 ppm (500 scale) and I am feeding them 3 x per day for 15 minutes via my wilma system, in clay pebbles, 18 litre pots. Currently under 600 watt but I have a dimmable ballast so could it be too much for the droopy one? maybe should turn it down to 400?).   I'm using Dutch Pro hydro and vita link root stim, in a 1.2 by 1.2 by 2m tent

here is the good one

here is the droopy one. it wasn't droopy 24 hours ago. only change was turning light up: Also has the tiniest bit of pale yellow at the tips of one of two leaves

Quite strange if they're both in the same conditions and same feed etc.

Lines are all clear? Any way of checking the roots for disease?

They're too young to have roots coming out the bottom so I can't see the roots to check. Lines are all clear

I'm not a hydro hero but I think @badbillybob might be able to help you better :)

If I'm reading my bluelab truncheon correctly, your 850ppm(500 scale TDS) is EC 1.7,or CF17. That's surely too high for the age/size/stage of the plants? When I last used wilmas/pebbles many years ago,I think I only got to that EC,TDS at the peak of flower. The burning leaf tips suggest the EC/CF/TDS is too high, but wait do wait for @badbillybob's expertise before doing anything. ATB mate :yep:

well, ive never used a wilma so i dont know if im your best bet here, but the ec sounds a bit too high, and the yellowing tips show a bit of over feeding.

you are feeding them during light on i take it? 3 times a day should be ok

what are the res temps like?

what is the ph like?

PH is just under 6, feeding them lights on, temps are around 26C. The plant seemed to perk up this morning and then droop slightly before lights out

I'm going to empty and refill the wilma today Shall I flush them for 48 hours to clear any nutes and then do a lower EC 600 ish?

dont flush them with no nutrients in the system, they wont like it at all.

id empty the res and take it down to 1.2EC tho. Are you changing the res out every 7-10 days, aye?

the rest of it sounds like its where it should be, so im kinda stumpted

I'm guessing this is room temp and not res temp, check your res is between 18c and 22c.

We've had a little overnight cold snap and that could have brought temps down too low.

I'll test the res temp once I refill.  well spotted though, I did misread and 26 was the room temp. The res temp should be ok though because it's covered and the room outside the tent was 22
