Calmag and biobizz

As the title, does this work? Would it not kill the life in the soil?I live in a medium hard water area and bottle suggests half a ml per ltr. It's a preventative measure more than anything else.

Medium hard in soil should be fine, some strains are more demanding but you'll see that. I would only add it if required, it won't effect the micro herd

I've been adding 1ml per feed since the start of feeding and great results.  My water is fairly soft so 0.5ml sounds about right.  Cal/mag usually contains a bit of N and a few other essentials so good stuff.

Used biobizz for a lot of grows but never needed calmag.  I have moderately hard water in my area, so no need.

I have soft-ish water and I got cal/mag def when using biobizz and Canna pro soil. It depends a lot on your water supply.

Hi @JJJ Congratulations on your latest grow. I have not updated mine for a while as I have had some problems which I think I hopefully are beginning to be sorted. Luckily I am growing photoperiods as I have been obliged to extend my vegging period. Before starting my grow ( and this is my first grow) I checked my water softness and thought it looked a bit soft so I asked on this web and was told I would not need to add any Cal/mag. subsequently my plants have been very slow growers. Rechecked this a few days ago and according to Biobizz if the ppm of my water is below 200 then additional calcium might ne needed. The calcium ppm for my area is 13.6, yes that's 13.6 so immediately I have added some cal mag and within a few days noticed a huge difference in the plants. I added 0.5ml/L and gave a 1/4 strength foliar spray. I am using TNC Cal/Mag which suggests 2ml/L for soil. Tonight I am watering and am going to do the full 2ml/L. Should I do this on every watering , say2-3 times a week or just once a week? I am also now giving 1ml/L Biogrow and I am aware that both TNC Cal/Mag and Biogrow have 4% Nitrogen so I don't want to overdo the Nitrogen.

@captain sensible With water so low on Ca, I'd just add a dash to every feed for a bit - maybe 0.5ml per L and see how it goes. You'll have to factor it in when calculating your feed and reduce the grow accordingly.

@JJJ cheers. I was going to go for 2ml/L but I think I will follow your advice and do 0.5 and half strength bio grow and monitor. I was pulling my hair out trying to work out what was up. I had discounted calcium deficiency as before starting I had been advised that most people using led think grow problems are cal mag related but the more I read the more I became convinced that was the problem. Stunted growth, small leaves, yellowing, and other problems relating to lack of calcium and magnesium.

No but when you use compost and your tap water has a low ec and the said compost doesnt have enough calcium to sustain healthy growth and starts giving little rusty spots of deficincy then i say go ahead.

I only use calmag if i start to get a deficiency but thought about the lime in the compost so i dont have to mess about with my simplistic feeds !
