vortex fans

Hey I'm trying to setup a tent for a grow.

My tent is 0.9x0.9x1.8m

have a 600w how on a dimmable ballast.

now I am just looking at fans.

has anyone used a vortex fan as I'm looking at the 5" pro inline. I just know that company specs aren't all that reliable and don't want to waste money on crap equipment if possible.

any help appreciated

vortex fans are more usually used as kitchen or bathroom extraction fans, so I'd look elsewhere, have a look at Ruck, Rvk or Systemaire fans as theyre very reliable.

I'd also go up in fan size as a 600w light in your tent will need a lot more cooling than what a 5" fan can provide.

even if I plan on running at 250w or 400w setting? already got all the ducting and filter all at 5". I have ran a calculation and I need roughly 160m3/h including variance for ducting and filter resistance. just saw the vortex pulls around 450m3/h. is it more a case of pulling through the resistance. sorry about the questions I'm abit newbie. last time I grew I just spent 500 odd quid on a set up and it worked perfect, didn't worry about specs.

a 5" fan is usually fine with a 400w but a 600w is too much but I would still get a 5" Ruck fan over a Vortex as the Ruck is very reliable & has a higher torqued motor & shifts a guaranteed 350m2s of air,

if your looking for  a cheap fan controller for a 5" fan then consider the xpelair WAC1 as its ideal for a 4" & 5" fans, you can still get them delivered for £30.

you mentioned that you've got a 600w variable digi ballast, if your running it at 250w - 400w - 600w, get the right wattage lamps because if you use a 600w lamp dimmed,

it affects the spectral light output & will shorten the life of the lamp, also, are you planning to run just the one type of lamp or will you be using MH for vegging ?

will be using the same bulb start to finish with this one. more of a get my hand back in the game and save some money whilst I get one go under my belt. then tweak and buy more kit as I go. I did not realise it altered the spectrum that much. what do you reckon to a 6" systemair a1 exhaust and cheaper random 5" intake to run it at 600w.

going to be doing lights out between 2pm-8pm to avoid the hotter parts of the day.
