James Acaster Is A Twat

19 posts in this topic

Watched the latest original Dave show: Hypothetical. Wasn't impressed :nea: I love Taskmaster, probably my favourite comedy show of recent years. But Hypothetical is shite, I quite like Josh Widdicombe - he reminds me of a cocker spaniel my aunt had lol But the show is ruined by James Acaster. Twat. His spoilt child schtick is not funny, I just want to punch him in the gob. Twat.

He is an acquired taste mate , I think he wants to be Vivian from the Young Ones , mind you I haven't seen his standup

I like Acaster - his Netflix 4-show specials were very very good. I defy you to go shopping and use a divider the same way again  ....

And for a mainstream BBC light entertainment prog, this was simply comedy gold ...

I confess it was a drunk thread to post  Can't say I've ever seen him do stand-up, only thing I've seen him on before this was when he was on Taskmaster, and he came across as a bit of a petulant cock on that so it's perhaps coloured my view, I just watched the first episode of Hypothetical and he got on my tits (it wasn't very good regardless of him, though, one comedy panel show too far perhaps). I do have a horrible tendency to make snap judgements, especially when I've had a light ale or two

Watch that clip, and beg, borrow or steal a way to watch the 4 Netflix specials (in order). If you find yourself able to trawl Netflix, check out Vas Dir - an Indian stand-up who is very very funny.

He is great live, has something about him. One of the better new comics.

Cheers :smokin:

Definitely an acquired taste I think but I really enjoyed the Netflix specials, though I had seen some of the material previously on iplayer.

I can see how he could rub folk the wrong way at first.

I've gone right off panel shows of late tbh, I watched "the fix" on Netflix with Jimmy Carr and Kathryn Ryan and the first few episodes I enjoyed but it got old fast too..

Stand up ftw in my world

No, sorry but you may not. Foot firmly down. How can you be offended by Tim Vine.
