Straw mulch question

Would it be ok to use straw intended as a pet substrate for mulching.

I dont have room for a bale in my back garden but am thinking of mulching the strawberries with this.

Beside a full bail will be far too much for my needs.

Is there a good reason to do or Not do this ?

It will be fine mate, especially for strawberries to keep them off the ground? straw it`s self wont add much in the way of ferts though, but will add structure eventually when it breaks down.
