Plot 2 far

Water butt fed dropper system

20 posts in this topic

Setting up a dripper system this year fed by water butts. Anyone ever tried this? 2018 droughts stunted most of my girls. Couldn't get water to them anywhere near as much as they needed. Filling up buts and them feeding over the period of a few days with liquid feed sounds great to me.

Will do mate. Setting up 4x750L water butts (3000L) approximately 6ft higher then the plot. Just need to fill them up at night as it's the only time I can run the petrol pump at this one.

Have you thought about putting a giant kids pool on the plot to fill up with rain water before the drought starts?? could bucket out into butts if an when the pool fills up , you can also pump in from a local stream river with petrol pumps like your saying , will work mate just make sure no one can hear the pump,.. :yep:

The irrigatia solar dripper is supposed to be good. About £80 iirc. Waters when the sun comes out. Was tempted for the greenhouse and veg bed.

It comes with 12 drippers but you can use a soaker hose too.

Haha. So you tapped into a water main and added a bypass with a tap. Naughty but what a great idea.
