Sick Plant? White Splatter

Hi All,

Wondered if anyone could help.

I have 7 small and stealthy autos each 2-3 Meters apart along a field.

Medium - Soil. Heat - Very Hot.

I've Used Fish BB, Calcified Seaweed, Water Retention Crystals, Chicken Pellets And Sulfate Of Potash - All Dug in 3 weeks before transplant out at about day 15.

Unfortunately due to location i only manage to water every 6-7 days - Each Gets approx 2 liters.

Please see attached what seems to be a white splatter on the leaves of the plants - This is on 6 out of 7 of my plants - Anyone any ideas?

Some sort Of Deficiency?

There was no evidence of dusty/powder mold or mildew - the heat in London has been far too hot for that!

No evidence spider mites of or any webs around and of the ladies.

Recently - about two weeks ago the farmer cut his field but i don't think that has anything to do with it.

If anyone can give some advice - i would be very appreciative.

Thanks for the help

Shagz

Looks like Thrip damage to me.

Have you checked for bugs/mites? Thrips are little brown fuckers who are quite fast, so as you turn the leaf they'll try and run back to the underside.

Good luck! :yep:

Thanks for the help!

I assume neem oil or garlic spray is the recommendation?

Or are they causing any real damage that will affect the flowering etc? Ideally I wouldn’t want to contaminate and flowers...they probably only have 3-4 weeks to go...

thanks all

I've got some thrips on my outdoor plant & I'm not too worried about them to be honest. As @FARMER G correctly stated, it's outdoors & your likely to get them.

Spider mites I'd treat for sure & have done & I pull off any caterpillars if I see them. But general bugs will also have the natural predators (like nice ladybirds) to keep them in control.

So unless you start seeing major damage, or of its bothering you then get some pesticides & treat. But thrips will generally come back anyway.

You can get some sharp sand & cover the soil then this will prevent fungus gnats, which their larvae eats roots.

Good luck

ill keep an eye but I’d rather let the ecosystem do its thing!

Thanks for your advice both of you! You’ve put my mind at ease!
