morning, have a look online at fantronix, they sell great aluminium boxed accoustic fans, there well quiet, i know getting one of there speed controllers and a bigger fan than you need, will be allot less silent as it will be running at like 40% speed, rather than a smaller fan running at full speed. plus you wil have that extra fan power in the summer when grow tent/ room temps can get upto 30c or more, you want it at about 27c lights on, and at about 22c lights off minimum. you want a 6 inch fan i would say if you want 300cfm. i mesure it in square meters per hour, same as grow shops and fantronix. ive heard that the presh fans with the speed controller on a remote wire are the bollox, and are well silent too. you just set your max temp, and the fan will speed up or slow down when needed to keep your room at the max temp you set on the fan. fans with built in speed controllers and a temp probe are great bits of kit mate. all the best with the search. :yep:

They are a lot of money but in my experience the systemair vector silenced fans are the quietest I've used. I've got stealth hyperfans aswell but the vector is quieter imho.

Also  like smokie1 has already said oversizing your fan will help a lot.
