bad quality tapwater

Hi folks, I'll get right to the point, I have a problem with my tapwater. If I leave a glass full on my counter it will go cloudy with a mucus like oily scum on the surface. If I bubble it it will go cloudy quicker. I used to grow ebb & flow but the rez became nasty within 4 days with strands of mucus like threads with a foam on the surface. I've tried bubbling plain tapwater in a 1 gallon water bottle with nothing added and it will go cloudy within 3 days. I've contacted my water supplier about this and asked them to analyse my water .. they flatly refused telling me there was nothing wrong with my water and they would not analyse it.

Iv'e gone over to hand watering coco for the time being, its OK but doesn't perform as well as ebb & flow in my opinion.

I live in south east UK and my supplier is Essex & Suffolk water. Does anyone else have this problem?

In yesterdays dailymail there was an article about tap water containing hundreds of substances plus M. Avium paratuberculosis and Cryptosporidium, plus pesticides and hormones.

Sorry i cant help with your water testing.....but......Have you thought about using reverse osmosis (RO) filter?

These usually rid your tap water of such problems.

badbillybob, I spent last night checking out how to install a reverse osmosis filter..I think this would be my best action.

Jibba jabba, I used to make hot drinks with it but now I use bottled water, even to clean my teeth.
