Crystallised Nutrients

Got about 15 litres of Ionic 1 part nutrients that were kept in a cold garage over the cold snap we're just starting to get out of here (I know, I know, I had no choice though), and the bottles sound like there's broken glass sloshing about in them.

Is there anything I can do to save throwing it away? Is it ok to use in lower doses or something? Mix it with some new nutrient? Dissolve it back in somehow? Any ideas? It'd be a waste to throw it

have you tried bringing it back to at least room temp to see if it goes back into solution?

So they warmed up a bit and aren't making broken glass noise anymore, I'm using the hydro grow nutes mixed with new coco nutes and all seems OK. Hopefully it'll continue this way.

Hey Chester C,

Not to cause worry but I had the same problem as you, I had two Ionic 20l jerry cans of grow + bloom that had been left to at a friends flat for a couple of months which ended up turning into 5 years. Anyhoo I tried using years later, crystallisation occurred (tuned into little salt balls!) which I then tried to dissolve back into the solution but to no avail so I filtered it out and tried using and had the worst results I have ever had during a grow. Crystallisation is going to mess with the ratio of the feed, and if i cant be dissolved back into the solution will not give optimum results. Just think about the relatively cheap cost of new nutes vs risking using old ones that may not perform.

Well its going OK using half new nutes and half these old nutes in the mix. Gone well in veg now doing the same in flower with bloom nutes. Will see how this goes. Growth Technology Ionic have been goods nutes for me over the years so we shall see how these end up. As bazzo put it might be part of the way they work :yep:
