Which to buy?

Posted (edited)

Hi all

Right now I'm vaping CBD oil (I make it from crystal isolate) with my Reuleaux RX Gen 3 and Kanger 4ml tank, but it's a bit expensive, and so I'm looking to grow my own and vape some dry herb but I'm not sure which dry herb vaporiser to get.

I don't want to burn (conduction?) the herb so should I be looking for a vape that heats via convection?

I think this is going to save me some money in the long run because unless I'm wrong, I don't need to buy PG, VG, and flavourings? Eventually growing my own herb will save me more money again (at least in the long run). That said, the vaporisers I've been looking at on Youtube seem more expensive than my £35 RX Gen 3.

Any suggestions on which to buy?

Thank you all :)

This isnt a forum for sellers or buyers.

We can help you to grow weed for your own personal use or medical needs but nothing in relation to any trading of anything apart from knowledge.

When I saw the subtitle of the thread "hints, tips and discussions" I thought it also covered reviews for actual vapes.

Sorry

it looked to me like you were looking for a vape review/ recommendation.

Sorry I cant help, because I don't vape, but I'm sure someone will be along shortly who does

@SeaJay convection and conduction are both methods used for heating to produce vapor,

some vapes are convection some conduction others hybrids of both leaning either way.

Ok thank you all for the info

EDIT: Please feel free to delete this thread so it doesn't clog things up. I've asked the same question over on the vapefiend forum. Sorry for the hassles.

That's not exactly a new problem.

1st of all wherever you go next consider using the shortest path of least transformation, that would be a start.  As for money it gets most expensive only because manufacturers persist in developing solutions which ain't really well adapted to the task, like the venerable Volcano which leads a whole suite of "Hot Dry Air Ovenizers"...  Which is 2 undesirable aspects combined into 1 anyway!

This alternative illustrated below wouldn't cost as much even as a DIY project, imagine the day VaporGenie shall decide to upgrade their patented concept at last!

How about a "1-Hitter"?  :innocent:

This is still the "Vapour Heads" thread, by the way...

Good day, have fun!!  :hippy:

Not sure why but I never received a notification that this thread had been added to.

Looking at that set up Egzoset, I'm thinking perhaps I need to go for a dab rig. Thing is, I last had a joint about 25 years ago (drunk out of my mind and a one-off skunk session that lasted 5 minutes about 15 years ago, doesn't count). So I'm wondering if a dab rig would be too potent for me.

Hi again SeeJay,

Looking at that set up Egzoset...

In that case here's the few details which you may happen to be missing that should clear this matter:

shortest path of least transformation

My illustration below simultaneously describes how the core in my pipe has been rebuilt and also how close this is to my cannabic load:

Egzoset's Customized VG Pipe - Near Conclusion of Halloween 2017

Close enough, actually so close the heat source and cannabic bowl are directly juxtatposed, with a tiny brass screen in between - with a catch...  The SiC/Metal sandwich behind has 2 contrasting behaviours, either it's highly energetic, either it's returning into a state of heat insulation.  It all depends on airflow which in turns causes the structure to alternate between these 2 states.  What's nice about it is that heat still doesn't disperse instantly though short and fast:  its propagation is relatively progressive instead, which opens the door to power pulse-mode applications...

This is the whole setup with its wood sphere removed.  A Flame Catcher captures the superhot exhaust gases from butane clean-burning in addition to radiative heat.  The Hybrid Core temporarily intercepts part of that composite heat, converting those radiative + convective vectors while "stretching" the pulse, so to speak.  What's great about it is the presence of Inlet H2O and CO2 as those rise the overall specific heat capacity compared to Hot Dry Air alone.  Something tells me that's this feature which makes "Micro-Bursting" so tasty while promoting "conservation".

A PinHole à la VapMan provides some amount of turbulence helping to move the stream forward while it also removes heat with fresh oxygen enhancement as a bonus.

When airflow is static we don't want a temporarily stored Heat Charge to "bake" the precious cannabic load excessively.  Alternately, when dynamic this airflow turns into what i tagged as the "Release/Transport Agent" intended to set the noble molecules free, then to take them away from heat once airborne (e.g. vaporized).  An auxiliary cavity under the bowl generates some vortex that tends to capture particles, the rest shall remain trapped into 100 % "bio" cotton fibers strategically located further away from the heat source.

As for the PC Tubing Extension its function is to offer some self-awareness feature from accumulating water droplets proportionately to consumption; its extra length offering eye-contact on the flames corona.

This concept doesn't rely on slow thermostatically processes, the idea here is to flash-vaporize a bouquet of goodies without severely attacking what's under the contact surface until the Heat Charge has depleted - which depends on the Hybrid Core configuration.

As we can observe here the path really conforms to my primary directive as formulated in my quoted intro above:

Core Path with Wood Ball Removed - Labelled

So, it was only a matter of finding an optimized "Sweet Spot" cfg. defining a set of appropriate trade-offs...

Egzoset's Customized Bronze Sherlock VG Pipe

Those principles can be made useful in compatible devices, i believe.  The VapoCane may be too slow, i don't know, but that would seem like an aproximation worth a try.  Except i can't say with confidence that it can handle heavy loads, only that this is a skin-burn risk...  Because that's the important point with such Hybrid Core:  its Heat Charge has to match the workload and my solution includes such basic safety concerns.  Too intense it burns/combusts, too weak and next to nothing happens.  Joy resides inbetween.

Now here's the good news.  Sticky screens can generate generous tokes that hit "snuss" style, i'd say, but not as far as a dab if it's calibrated accordingly.

The range of application is vast, making performance depend on the operator much like a musical instrument vs talented skills - which only makes the experience even more pleasurable - not to mention the rich sense of aroma/taste.

Among the "Self-Humidifying" category i once suspected those brands/models may fit the bill:

Alivi8 Vaporizer, Dominizer/VapMizer, Vapor Lithe, Phyto-Lab...  Possibly also the Ubie and Verglow Vapor, with some more thoughts for the Trabi, the Vape Lifter, the Vapo-Bowl, the Vapor-Bat, lthe VaporNature, the VaporRocket, the VaporPipe and the VapoStar.  But you tell me if that intuition was right, please contribute with an update if appropriate anyone!

:B):

Another feature that helps is "obvious" paths as in those:

7th Floor (DBV, SSV, LSV), Gnome, Vapocane, Vaponic, VaporGenie Glass (Bat, Pipe) and Vriptech Heat Wand, i think.

Ideally the device has it all combined as one.  Which makes me claim a Customized VG Pipe as reconfigured is really difficult to beat in terms of the shortest path of lesser transformation.

...

Then, if over-heating has been dealt with correctly then all that reamins to be done is calibration or "packetization" of the Heat Burst.

As suggested my pipe can routinely vape-clean the bottom-of-bowl screen even when empty and i don't think you'd miss dabbing.  Of course that screen ain't totally obstructed though, so i guess you'd have to disperse a droplet of noble molecules on the whole screen surface and eventually want to remove obstructive excess.  That's the one reserve i'd have about it, because convective heat is Paramount in this present layout.

...

Honestly i wish there were compatible devices with such short distances and minute delays, hoping i've managed to offer some alternate perspective on the usual ready-made offers coming around.

Good day, have fun!!  :hippy:

Hi Egzoset

I hate to say this, but about 95% of what you said has flown right over my head :(

Sorry

But thanks for the info, I can do research on the content of your post.

Hi again SeaJay,

No problem, i needed to loose some 7 years while spending a couple thousand Canuck dollars myself before i could declare those things so clearly...  It's not like i didn't get used to it.

Take your time, enjoy walking the path!!  :hippy:

If your vaping e-juice with concentrates, a cheapo Evod will do it. There are some 'med e-cigs' out there, but pricey compared to a basic e-cig.

I gave up on dry herb vapes and concentrate vapes. Turning your concentrate into e-juice seems the best solution.

I'm about to give Dispensary Pens UK a try, they sell a terpene. That's about 12 quid for 0.6 grams worth. Should make 1.8 grams worth of potent cannabis  e-juice.

Will start a thread.
