The cutting globe

18 posts in this topic

Hi all

I’d just like to let people know about a amazing product on the market( I am not trying to sell)

its called the cutting globe and is used for cloning

the idea is taking cutting of mature plants and trees,

basiclly you shave of the outside bark/flesh, cover in rooting hormone then Incase it with what looks like a ball you fill it with soil depending on what your growing it can take 4-8 weeks to get a root ball, the idea been you can clone large branches of a mother rather than small cuttings

so once your rooted you can transport straight into a flowering room :george:

This seems to be it @vortex ..

Seems a good idea, lets the cutting root out before you actually cut it.

£27 on amazon, outrageous for what is essentially a small plastic container with holes top and bottom for the branch to come out. Would be easy to DIY though.

I wonder why one side needs to be opaque instead of just a completely clear ball?

Just re-inventing the wheel.

Funnily enough I was wondering if Air Layering would work for cannabis.

I did several Rubber Plants over the years using just plastic bags and string :).

That price is for a multi pack of different sizes you can get them cheaper tho,

but let’s not forget you can reuse them time and time again

and I know people who’ve actually put theses on the tops before topping them which has been fun to watch they work great but I hear your point 27 for a few plastic balls but this is the world we live in :wallbash:

As said it’s air layering made simpler

i used to air layer with moss and black plastic to great effect

insuspect kinder egg toy holders could be modified to get similar results on the cheap

Clear plastic spheres (from China or HK) can be found on ebay in a whole range of sizes from 4cms diameter upwards. They are very cheap. Have just ordered some to experiment. They are sold for Christmas decorations etc. In 2 halves with a loop on top. Easily modified I would think.

So how long do they take to root?  Not 8 weeks I'm guessing...

e2: 4-8 weeks from the OP lol .   That would be alright for cloning a special plant imo.

Yes air layering does work for cannabis.

Seems a lot of work tho, why would you not just take a cutting?
