I'm not sure how much scrog info is here on this forum @HSO-Mark, but I don't think I've seen that much.

There`s loads of diaries with scrogging mate, it was a massive thing here a few years ago, still is to some.

It was a preferred technique of my dad who was taught in Holland around the early 80,s. The only reason I asked is I've seen several threads of late with members building there own scrogg nets and thought this info was cool so wondered if there's a dedicated scrogg section with builds etc :yep:

Will have a look around the forum mate and thanks for the advice :)

Kind regards

@ratdog Oh really? Awesome, thanks I'll have a search now. I don't think I've been a member for longer than a year so I must have missed it when they were hot.

Welcome to the jungle! We're one week into the flip, and boy have they grown! Got back home today after going away for the weekend, opened the tent and couldn't believe it. They've drank most of the res and are already starting to stink. This one Green Crack (top right) is just an absolute beast, she's growing like crazy and giving my scrog net a real run for its money. I knew putting two different strains under the net would be a challenge, but she's really pushing the limits of what can be done (with my experience) with just the one net. Sorry for the poor photos, currently taking on my phone during lights on, but will dust off the proper camera and take some good ones come bud-porn time. Here are the hungry girls.

This is probably a good example of when you need two nets @H4rdc0r3 as I'm having trouble keeping it low enough to shape the indica dominant Sapphire OG's, while I'm trying to give the Green Cracks adequate space to do their thing. Either way, a scrog always pays off in a space like this IMO, whether you have a perfect flat sea of clones or a hotchpotch of autos - I think I'll probably always use one in some way.

large.IMG_20171203_213215-2203x1652.jpg

As you can see the poor little short-arse is struggling to reach the net, but we're only 7 days into 12/12 so we'll get there. Need to thin them out a bit more, but I'm quite nervous about defoliating and/or lollipopping. I'm not yet convinced that it's been proven to increase yeild (although I'm open) and I'm not too bothered about popcorn, so if I do it'll only be to improve air circulation and prevent PM.

thanks for the tag @SevernValleySavant been doing a fair bit of reading on scrog past few days think ive got the gist, plants are looking good as well keep at it.

you going to put in 2 next time? or you reckon the placement will probably be better due to learning of the first time so might not need 2nd?

yea i actually ended up with 2 nets in the end my diy one and a bought one just incase,i got lazy after how long it takes to make the net diy and caved into buying the 2nd as didnt fancy round 2 stringing up another, besides i ran out of string too so that helped(1-2m left) ;) lol

not sure if you have already or not but dont forget to trim the fluff and that aint getting no light by the 3rd week of 12/12 after 3rd week they best left alone. ;)

Thanks man. I've only got a hps bulb and this is my third run with it so it's good to see them picking up after 12/12, I'm not a fan of vegging with a hps but was all I had.

I think I'm going to stick with the one net, as I'm hoping long term to just run clones from a mother, so training should be more straightforward and uniformity should be alot easier to attain.

I'm just thinning out leaves atm, doing a few a day per plant so as to not cause too much stress. Once I'm happy with my layout I'll start removing any worthless growth, although I'm temped to try some hash making with the slow-cooker/coffee-filter technique I've been reading up on lately, so I may keep some down there for the hash pile....I'm undecided but any pointers on lollipopping or staggered harvesting would be appreciated!

Now they are in bloom they definitely are going for it mate and filling out that screen great  :yep:

I would get in and clear out a lot of that undercarriage which is getting no light and sucking valuable energy from your plants  :yep:

So far really impressive and now we are close to half way into the stretch phase the bud structure will start showing and flower development will start :)

Looking on point mate  :yep:

As usual thank you for taking the time to update your diary and for the added pictures very much appreciated!

Until next time :bong:

Kind regards

Just a quick update...

We're 2 1/2 weeks into 12/12, the canopy has filled nicely but I'm really hoping the we've reached the end of stretch as it's been a real compromise between keeping the net low enough to train the Sapphire OG's, and heigh enough to accommodate the vertical growth of the Green Cracks without them taking up too much screen space.

large.IMG_20171212_213452-1814x1361.jpg

As you can probably see the smallest Sapphire at the back has been a bit neglected and lost some screen space to the absolute beast of a GC next to it, but I half expected this from the start. You might not think it but I've done a good bit of defoliation on all these, mainly in the areas where the leaves and plants have overlapped.

Everything is going smoothly though, lots of pistils and bud sites starting to develop.

Until next time, all the best.

@SevernValleySavant

its looking nice in here mate, the plants are filling the screen nicely, I'm another one that cuts away everything below the screen, it won't get any light but its still using the nutes that the buds above the screen could be doing with.....

Goodluck mate, hope the rest of the grow goes well for you.

Sounds like the training has kept you on your toes  :)

The stretch should be very close to being over then the plants can focus on stacking on some serious weight :yep:

Looking very nice in here and I'll be back in on the next update mate  :bong:

After having gone away to see family over xmas for 5 days, I must say I'd been quite worried for them. Knowing roughly how much they drink and the accompanying ph fluctuations, I left them with as much water in the res as I could l, ph'd to 6.0.

After coming home last night I was quite relieved to see them all doing fine. They'd drank about 2/3 of the res (5x33l) and were looking rather hungry. These photos were before top-up, so they're hungry here. As luck would have it though, my ph pen has decided to die on me, so until the postman arrives I'm driving blind.

I'm hoping the stretch has stopped now. Don't know if its down to my environment or the strain, but the green crack stretch has been pretty crazy. The Sapphire OG's are happy and going strong, but I'm expecting the GC's to be the star of this show in terms of yield as they've managed to get the lions share of the light distribution from their crazy growth spurts post 12/12. The flower development has been a bit slower than the GC's so it'll be very interesting to see how long I can take her and when her harvest time will be in relation to the GC's.

Bud shots will be mainly the GC's from here until harvest, but I'll make sure the OG's are equally represented in my final posts (smells, flavours, yields etc).

Here's one of the GC's at 33 days.

Accidentally snapped off a side branch from a Sapphire OG while installing new dehumidifier, so thought this would be a good opportunity to show how she's getting on without the glare from the hps.

I think the topping I did to her in veg and the 12/12 switch before showing sex has delayed the onset of flower somewhat for this strain, and as a result they're both behind their GC counterparts and will probably finish after. GC's are progressing really well and all are performing beautifully!

Anyway, here's a Sapphire OG....
