Aerogarden with hood / light removed for hydro grow?

I currently own an old aerogarden 7 pod unit - I appreciate that the lighting included with an aerogarden isn't strong enough to be beneficial for a proper grow, but could I use the base unit as my hydro setup and just remove the hood with the bulbs?

So in other words, my aerogarden base would have 2-3 plants started in it but with the aerogarden lights removed, and the unit would be put in my tent under a 300w LED

as a newbie to hydro grows (soil only for 10+ years) I'm wondering if this would be an easy and inexpensive way to get started using equipment I already own?

Any advice appreciated!

I also own an Aerogarden and only ever use it for starting seeds off or if i have taken clones. IMO the base unit is way too small to hold the mass of roots that you would get from 1 plant never mind 2 or 3 grown hydroponically.

I normally grow in NFT or Flood and Drain and the root mass can get huge and would more than definitely cause a problem for the Aerogarden.

But as i said they are great for starting seeds off or for starting clones.

Hope this helps.
