Safest Bud Maximisation for Beginner?

Hi folks, I'm a total beginner, growing several strains of Dinafem and Greenhouse plants outdoors in Southern Spain. I've been reading up about topping, FIMing etc and I'm a bit confused about which I should be trying. I'd like to get as many nice buds as possible, what would be a good starting point for a beginner, outdoors? Most of my plants are around 7 weeks, some are a bit younger.

If you tie the top down all the side branches will take the lead as the tops (its called LST short for low stress training) then you tie them down again and again ... eventually you get a bushy plant with lots of tops and you don't have to cut anything off them. funnily enough I made a little guide last night ... look here if your interested

Put em in pots with nice organic soil 5 times the size of those or as big as possible and watch them explode

Thanks everyone, especially Oddnut for your excellent guide. I've been bold and bent, tied and topped the hell out of my plants! They look like a truck ran them over, but hopefully it'll pay off eventually. They're all healthy enough after their first feed two days ago, just not quite as pretty looking!
