"Sweet" smell from outtake

24 posts in this topic

Hi ppl

So my misses has complained about a "sweet" smell coming from my groom, now the CF is a 150 x 600 rhino, not new but I think it's about a year old, the humidity is at 60% at mo, highest ever was 80%.

I said I can't smell anything, and when I open the tent it's obvious the CF is scrubbing the Killers and blues smell!

So what's this "sweet" smell she's on about??? Have any of u lot had this before?? Checked the ducting and all is good!?!?!?!?

Might buy a new CF anyway but I'm not convinced this sweet smell is gonna go!

Cheers in advance

High humidity reduces the life of the filter. I would look into a new filter and also ways to lower your humidity. Must be inside the filter that is the problem if the connections are tight and secure. Do your fans run at less power during lights off? Sometimes I notice a smell when they are slowing down.

@@KingBlueRizla I can reduce humidity if I wish, I have a dehumidifier, but thought 60% was a good level for veg.

Yes the fan runs slower at lights off, it's on a SMS twin pro, the one with the light sensor that fluctuates fan speed during lights off to maintain good humidity.

Funnily enough she only complains as she walks in the door just before lights on time.

@@hazydays thanks pal I'll defo sort it one way or another!

When my filter would struggle a bit was just after lights off, when the temperature dropped suddenly and humidity would rise accordingly for a few minutes.
