Dutch Passion's POWER PLANT 12/12 From Seed

26 posts in this topic

Update; Day 84 Wk 12 Power Plant 12/12 from "Regular" seed, 1st wetting.

The power Plant has had 6 days flush on pure RO. And has retrieved most of the salts contained in the 4.5ltr pots. And had due to the low salt volume, started dramatically to redirect mobile elements into the flowers. leaf color has changed quickly due to this.

They are ready for the last couple days of RO flush. To purify the flowers, and relieve any salts that may be retained in the exolem. This last week has seen a superb loading of trichomes into the flowers. As a last desperate atempt to puff up, in case a pollinator shows up !!..............

A very quick finish for the PP. was hoping she might mature into wk 13-14. But has thrown her last energies in very quick. So just one days more watering. Then 48hrs dry, and 48hrs in the dark at 21c RH 45. And they wont need many days to "Decarboxylate" THCv Into THC.

Here are the main compounds and "VOC's" that are subject to Decarboxylation; Phytocannabinoids, Terpenoids, & Flavonoid and Phytosterol

The last ten days had made all the difference to the weight gain. Exactly 3mnths since wetting the gene capsules, de PP. Recon around the 1.5-2 zip a piece, as fruit density is at a good level. They are nicely ripe now.......... just how i like to get em there to this stage. All flavanoids & terpenes all present. A compound tropicana & distinct roses aroma. Complex and sweet, no citrus, more fruity, and floral, with a hint of spice in there. Sandlewood and sour, with hashish overtones, due to amount of trichs at this old age......... a classic sativa bouquet & aroma from the PP Reg. last update next week. The harvest pics and weights. Power Plant 12/12 Harvest; Day 85.

As you know, i like to take the ripening process to the ninth degree. As in those last few days of ripening. massive NPK (Mobile), elements are shipped out to the flowers on mass. As the females resort to a last ditch attempt to triple the trich count. In the forlorn hope, the increased aroma will attract a winged insect, bearing pollen.

There is no doubt that i could have harvested the PP, 15 days ago, when 60% or more trichs where milky, and not translucent. 5% where light amber at 70 days. take off the 4 days germ and emergence to 40mm tall. And you have 66 days. two months from emergence. That is a quick sativa. They say 70 days under "Optimal" environs. The PP cam claim that to be true, and not a mith. Average 'Lux" per plant was 22,000. As the culture vessell was 3.5ltrs & not 4.5 as emanated previously. The plants are very easy to "Rotate". This make a great difference over the culture period. As photons are bi daily distributed evenly through the plants rotations, 180 degrees each day.

The 85 day finish. means, 4 cycles can be fitted into 12 months no worries. As this was my first 12/12 from seed. I wanted to see the results before starting anything else. Otherwise, due to constant 12/12, i could have started the next batch, "3 Weeks" ago. As all cycles are on 12/12, i can start seedlings in the same "Space"......... so knock of 21 days from 85 = 64 day cycles............. if my calculations are correct. That is 5.6 cycles in 12 months.

At the same time using "Half" the water, "Half" the nutes. 1 fifth of the 15ltr standard soil volume, per plant on 12/12 3.5ltr pot, & 25% less Kw overall, and the plants much more maneuverable in culture, (handy If You Had To Move Em Quick !) and 60% less "Green Waste" to smuggle out, and 30% less soil "In".. A multiple "Bonus". the soil i used to use was 17ltrs. Compressed into a 20 AirPot. I now get "5" plants from that volume with 3.5ltr pots i just used. Restricting height but not yield or vigor. A 5 plant yield is, in this case (PP 12/12), 210g dry. Only a "SuperStar" plant genetically (Fems & Auto's) would yield 210g "dry" but not every time, genetic variance involved.. Pure strain genetics (Not Hybridized), do not exhibit these traits.

So i have found a way to "ADD" 2 more harvest to my year calender. Comparing the normal 3no 115 day harvests, fem or auto, or full sized "Regular". To 5no 12/12 harvests, per/Yr. The fems loose by 30% or greater. Efficiency however in increased by 100%. by 12/12.

I have taken these to 85 days, as i like to max out the trich load amber. And waiting is the game. When you see the fans in this color, you know you are there. One other thing that did stick out to me. Was the speed at which the PP ripened and withdrew nutes, once the flush had started (8 day,flush, i day dry lights on, i day in the dark = 10 days). They where rapid to load up the trichs once they sensed the finish was not far away.. I put this down to the lower volume of salts available during the flush.

During culture, i like to "wash Out" the salt bias in the culture medium. Every tenth feed, give 4 that are plain water ph,ed. This make the plant use reserves that might be building up in the medium. And prevents issues caused by this salt build up "Eventually".

The reputation of the Power Plant. Goes before it. So i am looking forward to "De-Carboxylation Completing". And having my first "Ever" PP cured to the ninth. Pure bred "Stamp" Sativas, of 100% sativa. Are, by volume "As Rare As Hens Teeth"....................... but can be found. As greater than 50% Indica in a strain. Rules this method "Out". 100% Sativas respond to the method "like Home". A quick 100% Sativa, even more so. Most 100% Sativas are "Stable" due to the domestication process over generations. Finding a 100% sati with a rep that is known, even harder !!.................... thats why my first choice of a stable strain was the PowerPlant. Broke my harvest record this run. added to the other benefits. It's been an eye opener. Comparative to the last 4 cycles in 460 days. In all aspects of culture. Automaster is Autoberry.

Now for the harvest pics; Regular Power Plant (Dutch Passion) 12/12 from 1st wetting seeds. One of Henks, Original Strains, legendary in "Dutch Coffee Shoppe"..................... Automaster

Soil was so well used during cultivation. You can see the "Exhaust Root Matrix" used for dispelling used or excess salts from the system. Around the top 3cm of the top of the pot. Due to inter feed flushes this ring is "Small"

You will all want to know the dry stats; Which is the cream of the data. So high and low ranges will be given, with a pointer to the genetic variance in the strain. negative variance can give low yield. ie, genetic variance is the lowest in PP that i have seen, since i started. That is due to the purity of the line breeding processes. And the quality of the genome set to start with. I only had 4 that where shortish pheno. But still yielded 70% of the mid pheno,s. Four of the batch went upto 1.1m from soil. The majority where around the 90cm height. Stats below;
From my experience. The % vapor/water loss from wet cut flowers is 72%. However, when you dry the flowers, on the plant, before harvest. Ie, one day without feed, so 48hrs without water, and due to the 3.5ltr pots, water holding capacity. That 48hrs dry and another day 24hrs in the dark before harvest. This % decreases from 72% to 68% loss of water. These figures are from my known % loss from wet weights ok. So within 10%
Yield Range, (Dry); Shown as Wet&Dry and are rounded down.
High = 223/71. 40% crop
Low = 91/27 10% crop
Average = 157/50 60% crop
Due to hardness of flowers, i expect the % dry weight will rise ie 65% water loss from flowers. They will now be pressure cured under 1 bar, 14.7psi for 10 days, at RH 62 using the Boveda (NASA) RH cure pack in the pressure vessel. The pressure curing helps greatly (25%) to retain the terpanoid essential oils of the cannabinoid compounds. To make a pressure cure vessel, simply find a motor bike self sealing and seating Tyre Valve. drill 10mm hole in a suitable wide neck vessel (Not Glass) and screw it in and pump up to 1bar. Finding a non glass vessel that can seal a vacuum at 1 bar is the bit that aint easy !......
...... if it wasent of value i wouldn't swear by it either. thanks for looking in guy's.......... been an eyeopener for me the PP 12/12. Automaster :idea:

Hi AM

The 'OHS' came in my top five too. Lovely fruity aroma with a decent yield and good stone. I'm doing some Power Plant and Blue Velvet from DP to start 2015 along with some Red Med Angel. A new medi strain with very high cbd/thc levels. All the best for the year ahead bro. :).

John, thanks, yes, was germed in the 17.5cm wide 17.5 tall 3.5ltr "final" pots. I am going to use 4ltr pot nxt time. And the tallest reg PP was 1.1m, and the short was 70cm. 30-40% where 1.1m, and the best yielders, at 2.5-2.8zips each. The 3.5ltr pots, where covered, once bean went in with clingfilm, after wetting with Ph6.3 and superthrive starter at 0.2ec, and 10ml in a ltr of rizotonic root stim. The clingflim held in place by a rubber band round the pot lip, and then pulled tight so you can see through the clingfilm. Which then condensates, when the 2.5cm sprout, hit the clingfilm from underneath. You can see it easy. take of film, and straight into main light. 15-22,000 luz and away. This is the way i get my best germ percentages out.

The PP started popping within 1.5 days, and went on for another 4. There where no late germers. The % males in calk at 30% i was wrong. It came out at 55%. All showed sex by day 21. But some how, at day 32-35, 2 more turned up late males. The thing was, i was 100% sure, that all had been identified, beyond reasonable doubt !........ human error !! or a late switch of sex ??.............. i will never know. But i will remember the utter shock at casting an eye again through all females, to find a large set ney, cluster of 4-6 bollocks !!. Luckily, none where open. so no harm done. I allways still the air during this period, so no wind to move an accidental pollen drop about. It is quite heavy stuff, Seen it drop like a stone.

The % male estimate, of mine of 30% that came out 55%. Did cost me a few female PP,s. In fact around 22% less dames. But even with this, surprisingly, i still beat my previous best yield. All be it by just 150g. So if thing females wise had gone to plan at 30%. i would have been in a different ball park, re production to space used, and weight outcome. At the same time. Knocking off or saving the diff between 115 days, and my PP in at 84 days to amber. saving 31 days a cycle comparative to my last 115 day fem grow, (Sativa amber "DesFran" the Destroyer.)

So 31 days a month saved. 3 months a year saved is the fourth harvest. with 2-3wks to spare in 365 days. But the control of height in sativas is the key for me. and the halving of green waste to yield. it all went into one 30ltr bag. You can pour 2-3, sometimes 4ltrs of water into a dry,ish 15ltr pot, more if air pot. And still not see a drop out the bottom. With 1ltr i fed four plants each day. 250-300mls a day. And no complaints from the PP. At peak flower some scoffed 450-480mls, per day, and showed 50ml at base of 3.5ltr pots on 17cm 3cm deep trays.

Which means i can half my standing water capacity. I stand it in 5ltr mineral water bottles for min 2 weeks before use. Tap water and RO water the same air conditioning and gassing period 2wks. And to come up to room temp of course. But it is fully gas saturated.

The 31 days saved. Represents, 31 days of new growth in next cycle, and as you can hatch and grow new 12/12 seedlings, under and in the same space and light regime. You can save another 14-21 days, of a cycle, by starting seedlings in same room under same light, 21 days before the end of that run and harvest. So the day you harvest, the nxt lot are allready 21-25 days old. Giving you effectively an 84 day cycle minus 21 days overlap. = 63 days each cycle completes due to 14-21-28 day overlap, in the same 12/12 space, save time and money, and Kw, and water, and waste, and nutes, and control height without affecting yield more than 10% of normal. my mid range PP yielded more than a "Under-performing Fem" which we have all had.

The numbers game works best when there are more rather than less. especially, genetically. if you need 6 females, with fems you buy 6 beans. You may get 1 or 2 that only hit half the potential showed by the plant right next to it. . To get 6 females from a reg pack you would need to put down 15-18 reg beans. Which gives you a small window to select, the best females from a sexed batch. As you will allways end up with a few females over the number you want. As a result of buffering the male outcome in the females favor. End of rant !!..................from now on my personal medicine will be done this way, for pure efficiency, and less hassle. my show grows will be based on one plant in a single 27ltr RDWC unit, a 27ltr square pot, with 27ltr recirculated res standing right next to the 27ltr RDWC culture pot, with 60ltrs a minute of 02 going in. halia super silent 9730.

In one corner of the space, Which is. 13.7 cubic meters. floor 2.7 x 2.3. 2.3 drop 13-14m3....minus walkway 3 square foot !!...... the new discovery on yield and time and cost, makes me happy, and leaves time to for fafing about with a RDWC grow on the side. 12/12 RDWC, i have run DWC before on one occasion, it's a blinking lot of work though. If you run across a superstar bean, anything can happen in DWC !! look at gorrilas mazar madge DWC !!..........but that dont happen but a couple of time per year, stumbling across a rare monster single bean, a plant that grow "GiGas"....huge... a monster !!.......(Nice To Know They Are Out There !!) the genetic lottery proceeds !.. You never know what you might get out of a genetic bean lottery, but at least with pure un hybridized strains, they are a lot more homogenous (Low variance) in pheno and genotype outcomes.. .Automaster.............

that is one sexy lady AB mate!

In the mobile nutrient retirement stakes, the 12/12 3.5ltr pot surpasses it's self, in shifting them to where they are needed. And make 100% not 60% use of nutrients stored in the plant. She even stripped it from the trunk, which also went pale yellow. She is fully ripe and potent with trich load. I like em ripe, brings out the last 10% of power, and the fuller amber, tjhe waiting game, like a good hand of stud, you know you are onto a winner, as the color creeps further into the end processes, of full ripening !!...... Top skills, and growing :yep:

Staggered me. What you can do with a 3.5ltr pot volume. But the most interesting fact. is that, due to height control. More of the plant is much closer to the "Flux Of Photons"........... in cahoots with plant rotation, on a daily basis. Much more of the flux is "Adsorbed" by the chloroplasts. Converting more adenosinetryphosphate. ATP. Therefore larger flowers on the satellite cluster. Than would be expected, from a plant 1.7m tall with satellites down 1 meter away in the shade etc. So the height control, delivers much better yield and use of light. Unlike very tall plants. That develop at the canopy "Only" as a rule. rotating improves adsorption. As the power of the flux is central and plants rotate round to best light power each day. Roasting the buds from all sides with photons. developing a solar plant 5kg stand rotisserie, which turns very slowly, on its own energy is my new year challenge. Any idea's ?? AM
