The right way to use airpots?

20 posts in this topic

Just thought id post and see peoples views on the airpot, I've currently got 10l airpots and canna coco,I've seen soo many different pieces of advice on these and i just wanted to narrow it down, if anyone has any information on airpots in general and how you use them yourself, most efficient ways to use them.

peace!

pack them to the neck properly by tapping em down,

water very slowly - also water very often since they'll dry out even quicker due to the added air

hey mate just seen this yeh airpots the way I use them is if hand feeding them I will mix my coco with 2 parts coco to 1 part perlite or clay pebbles woteva ya prefer I like perlite cuz you don't have ph balance it as its pretty inert and ph stable! if in a system like Wilma ect.. 50/50 mix make sure you compact it best you can as you need to get the coco into the little cones that lead the roots to light and air! if you don't then the roots can by pass them and it will work just as a normal pot would with the roots circling round! hope this helps dude but I have a feelin im just conferming wot you have probably already been told! good luck lad!......hemp.

Yeah i actually didn't know to use perlite, i thought it was fine just coco but ill add a little perlite, i just wanted to know what other people did and maybe they had a better way than the way i thought.

you will all probably call me stupid when you look at this but its a little off the airpot topic but in reading advanced nutrients feeding schedule it says a certain ml per week, if in watering more than once a week which i will be do i split the dose up so im using say 10ml in total in say 5 2ml feeds or do i give full nutes every time i water?

Measure nutes by ec and start low then raise as the plants need it, never feed what the manufacturers say :)

e2a sorry, never used airports but just got a couple so I plan to soon

Make sure they are filled properly any air holes left or not fully filled will lead to flood of biblical proportions lol. Don't let them dry out otherwise again it will get messy. In the summer I have to feed everyday with some strains. The best way to gauge a dry air pot is to water till run off lift the pot and gauge the weight then lift the pot every time you go into the groom until the pot is 20/30% the weight it was then rewater. It takes a little while to get the hang of but once you do you should have it licked. They can be finicky but they also can be very worthwhile by the way I grow in compost so listen to the coco growers this is just my 2ps worth. Good luck buddy

i used to use airpots (1l,7.5l,15l) and i found them brilliant all i done for watering was fill up a big bucket (30l) and just dunked them in till the bubbles stop i know its not the most efficient way but it worked well and it stopped all the leaks and the compost running off the top of the pot

loafs :dj:

I'm changing from 11L to 6L airpots. I ditched them last time because they kept drying out in one day.

This time they'll be on a dripper system on a timer :)

Terry what dripper kit are you planning to use?

Why going to a smaller pot, wont that dry out even quicker being smaller? :)

Drippers work best with Airpots - use the black stake drippers if you can (these are 2L/H) I put 3 to a pot and run for one 15 minute feed per day . I think it works out at about 6/7L per feed. I have by no means got this mastered but I intend to get it nailed down (and I will post all info here (: ). The exceptionally slow feed that occurs from using drippers is great because the coco gets a really nice, long, soak. It also means that nothing pisses out of the side of the pots.
