Not easy to get the alignment so perfect and why was it so important to do so ?

i think the aliens stipulated it and provided the GPS to carry it out

though the 100,000 slaves (according to Greek historian Herodotus)

If Herodotus is to be believed there is a massive void under the pyramid with a lake and a city capable of accommodating 10 000 people around it's shores, and when he was taken to see it it was lit by artificial light.

It's in one of his works which I found as an e-book but haven't downloaded myself an e-book reader yet.

.

Herodotus has been criticised for this, his claim about the Great Pyramid was one such I saw debunked on some site, haven't got the link but i will look for it again sorry that's the best I can do for now.

Sorry about this but I still haven't found it, I should point out that I was trying to raise doubts about the credibility of Herodotus as a source, as Catfish alluded to.

I'm sure you were but I can't the quoted text, I found his piece on the pyramids but saw no mention of the lake, void, artificial lighting etc.

Not really sure how humans built the pyramids and I've no idea where the blocks came from but I saw this vid on youtube which shows how one man can move large stones on his own with no modern tools, just simple contraptions (I love the word contraption) he made himself. As I've said before, humans are clever little buggers when they need to be, so maybe the pyramid builders used similar methods or maybe just the builders at Stonehenge.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCvx5gSnfW4

Have you read Ancient Inventions (1994) by Peter James and Nick Thorpe? If not it is a cracking read. Out of print now so s/h copies or an inter-library loan but worth the effort if you like the subject

I bought it a few years ago and, after reading, stupidly allowed someone to borrow it and it never came back. I'll probably get it from the library now as you've reminded me of it. It's all fascinating stuff :)

Actually I can't find it either-still looking - which raises the possibility memory has failed me and it was somebody else.

Wiggiz I've also seen that video and it's plausible as a method that might have been employed in constructing the pyramids. My take on it is that they were built by a previous advanced civilization ( for the umpteenth time not aliens) :- there's a word for cultures who have advanced scientific knowledge but don't have much by way of technology, machinery etc.

Yes we humans are clever little buggers, but we have been so for far longer than established history recognises. The commonly accepted date for the pyramids is 4500 years ago but there is some Egyptian papyrus ( yet again can't quote chapter and verse I'm afraid !) that says they were built at the time of some particular astronomical configuration, the most recent of which was too recent, the one before during an ice age in the region and the one before that was 34000 years ago.

There's no dispute about homo sapiens sapiens having been around back then, with exactly the same brainpower we have now, so why shouldn't this be possible?

Since there has been little since we can assume that Egypt has not allowed further investigation of the notch or it simply hasnt proven the ramp theory.

As for the new two chambers, again it would come as no surprise if Egypt refuses any excavation even if proven they are there.

Good documentary though, having been there I came away certain the kings chamber had little to do with the burial of a great Pharaoh, it seemed to me at the time it looked like a functional room of some kind not ceremonial, this is the first real logical explanation for it having a function relating to the actual pyramid and being an essential part of it, works for me :)
