Power Africa Drinking like an elephant!

Hi There,

I am currently growing a Power Africa and a G13 Haze.

With the Power Africa I am 16 days after flipping to 12/12 and have many flower sites.

She is 3ft tall and 3 foot wide and currently planted in a 8 gallon Pot and until yesterday she has been drinking around 7/L every second/third day However after watering with 8L yesterday I have just checked the soil and it is dry. I am using the knuckle deep dryness technique and this has been working but i don't want to start over watering her.

Can it be possible that she needs 8L/day?

Do plants suddenly get thirsty when they start flowering?

Forgot to mention that the room temp is still the same.

Thanks Tom

You can usually tell by the weight of the pot as to when they need more water, and its a thirsty plant so its not uncommon for them to drink a lot.

Also I would be checking a bit further down than a knuckle maybe, your lights can dry the top few inches of your soil fairly quickly but underneath could be a different story, I like to get a good 4 -5 inches down to be sure.

But to be honest it looks really healthy so I would just carry on doing what your doing, good luck with the rest of flowering , your gona have 2 nice little monsters when they finish.

I think you want to go a bit deeper than knuckle deep with 36 litre containers :D

I just water soil by eye dude, read the leaves and lift the pots, but my biggest pot is only 11l and mainly 6.5l so easier said than done for you maybe :)

Cheers and all the best :yinyang:

Use a soil moisture probe. Weight of the pot when dry is a good bet to judge though. Rather awkward at lifting I'm sure.

I left it another day then watered again. its pretty had to lift :) and its maybe more than 8 Gall it says 42L. starting to think I might have overdone it during veg as its almost 40" tall/wide and only 18 days into flower out of 65-70.
