My drying setup...

large.rsz_img44480.jpglarge.IMG_0478JPG.jpglarge.IMG_0477JPG.jpglarge.IMG_0479JPG.jpglarge.IMG_0483JPG.jpg

Rhino Pro was the only thing I didn't go budget on.. lol It's in the middle box, passively drawing air through both boxes..

Fan controller currently on low, good negative pressure with the 2 boxes. Can add more boxes as and when needed and increase fan power.

Holes for passive intake at far end of each dry chamber, old (clean) pair of tights used as filter screens..

No smell at all.. I can also leave my paper bags/shoe boxes with curing weed in just by the passive intake on one of the boxes, this reduces that smell also.

Humidity rises to about 60% for a day or so when boxes are filled with fresh weed, then balances out at low-mid 50's. Temps at night are 18-19'C, daytime temps 20-24'C; trying to keep it as cool as possible, bloody heat waves lol

First batch out the box had 7 days and wasn't quite snap dry, happy with that.

Nice setup. I have a tarp tunnel setup on site for drying which you can see on the prev page i think. Looking at your hygrometer got me wondering, what is the ideal temp and humidity for drying? I remember being told by a growshop guy that around 12deg 60%hum for around 12-14days was ideal. I was using heat and eco fan last year(outdoor) and remember managing around 22deg and 50%hum while it was absoloutely pissing it down which felt like quite an achievement. Would i be right in assuming the higher your drying temps the less humidity you want up to a point? The lot i chopped the other day are currently just hanging up in the tarp with no heat or fans, turned out a little bit hayey and gives you a tickly cough in the back of your throat... dried to fast or to warm... or both?

I'm pretty sure ideal temp/humi is below 20'c with low-mid 50's humidity.. I think 12'C sounds a bit too cold to me, though. I've got the window constantly open and an oscillating fan in the room moving air around, brings the temp to a nice 17-19'C at night. And it seems logical to me that the opposite would be true, the higher your temperature the more humidity you want 'up to a point'..

I can't imagine that the bud under the tarp will fair well, especially without any fan/heat source! Doesn't it get sweaty hot under the tarp on a hot day? And what about in the morning on a sunny day when all the dew evaporates, I bet the humidity goes waaaay up under the tarp. Anyway, I would hazard a guess that it's been quick dried by being heated under the tarp?...

Hope it works out for you mate. If I were you I'd 110% be trying to think of a way to dry inside in a controlled environment. The same thing could be done with a cupboard or chest of drawers as I've done with cardboard boxes...

Hmmm... high temps and high humidity sounds like a recipe for bud rot to me. It's basically a hex shaped tarp tunnel on a approx 15deg gradient with the lower end sealed and upper end open. I use a 15kg butane and mini stove with a hot plate and eco fan, so the warm air rises up through the tunnel and out the end. I set up some hygrometers today along the length of it but they're so f**king unreliable i think it's probably pointless.... i was reading 20%, 45%, 50%, 80% and 99% ffs although the temps were fairly constant around 21-22deg.

Poxy rabbits got in again, that’s 20 odd autos and about 16 photos gone from this plot this season

The reason I only wanted autos in there from this season is cos of this in September

Getting well into harvest now for me, i'm rather liking the staggered finishing times... complete fluke but is making the trim a little less daunting going in stages. Last year they pretty much all came down the same day! Here's some of the prettier ones still left in the ground, colours are really coming out with this cold weather.

large.remainers.jpg

Am really looking forward to the creme caramel(bottom right), unfortunately i spotted a bit of rot right at the very top of the main cola :(. I chopped it out but was rushing and as you can see didn't do a proper job. Hope it's not too bad before i get out there next.

ps - not 100% but i think the purple leaved ones are either Purkle or Kushty and the two in the bottom left are unknown strains.
