The Outdoor Drying Thread

There’s a thread somewhere on here or on a different forum where a guy dries outside with a metal frame with a tarp over it and on the floor, he has a terracotta plant pot upside down, one that has a little hole in the bottom, under the pot, he has a big fat candle that burns for days which is lit and that warms the inside and helps dry the buds.

He swears by it.

Ive not tried as I can dry inside

I was debating doing it at some point outside but was going to use a 60x60x120 grow tent with a camo tarp over the top to stop it getting wet

Toy toddlers ride on car rechargeable battery with a pc fan wired up to it for extraction and blowing air around. I got two of the batteries, like a small version of a car battery.

I got a plot that has a massive gorse patch with sections of it are about 15 feet tall

Was going to set it up in there

But changed my mind as inside, I can control it better

Nice idea with the candle and terracotta pot!

My patch is in gorse so great for wind protection. I might set the tent up there on the spot or in a wooded area nearby, that might help keep humidity down or maybe raise it.. but then there's restricted airflow.

Might check out the battery option, just seems like more fucking around than I can be arsed with. A candle and a pot I can manage

Ok fuck all this tent and propane heater bullshit, I really just can't be arsed.

Who was it that said they just hung some plants in some trees for a couple of weeks? They said it moulded though..

I was thinking if I trim all the buds on site and then use one of those hanging drying baskets and hang it in a pine plantation near the edge of the plantation to get some good air flow coming in, then cover it with a tarp to keepthe rain off do you think that might work quite well? Protected from the rain, trimmed buds and good air flow through the hanging net

I know noone can say yes or no but anyone think it's feasible?

It's either that or I'm doing the same thing in my tent indoors, but I just hate having a load of weed in my house. Sure there's a carbon filter and it would dry no problem but I get friends round and I don't want them seeing that shit

Much love

Might work might not.

I'd personally think it wouldn't .

Just have no friends around if that's the only reason,  or rent a caravan for 10 days or freeze it all and make bubble hash.

I don't think it would work either best bet just don't have friends around till everything is dried it would suck to put in a summers worth of work just to have it all mold

I've never trimmed wet before or used a drying net, Always hung my plants fully intact for about 3 weeks before trim.. If I wet trim and use a drying net in my tent you think the buds will only take 10 days to dry?

I can do 10 days in solitary no probs!

easy in 10 days....or even much less....

i use trimpro and nets and a some dark room with a small underpressure and a filter.....(and just in case...a dehumidityfier.)

i used a brick garage 1 time...but it was damp at 80%.....took me 4 days to get to 50% with the dehumidityfier.( manny buckets of water came out )...then the wet buds came in...

===

out side drying....maybe in july...or so...there are sites where you can see 24/7 the humidity outside in your area...( at least here in holland )

most outdoor weed is harvested with beginning rot in it......so if you attempt to dry that outside....it just rots further.......

Yeah mate I fully expect I would lose my small house and be put into the big house!!

But yeah I fully get what your saying about rot setting in and humidity and everything. I'm just going to take the chance indoors.

Since I'm drying in a tent with extract and passive intake would turning up my extract fan to a faster speed increase drying time? Or does the speed of the air movement not matter so much?

I'd rather keep the fan lowish due to neighbours seem to hear everything.

My room will be about 20c, humidity between 40-50% indoors I suppose. How fast do you think I could dry? I don't want to dry far too quickly obviously, I would like to find a balance between speed and quality you know? But if less then 10 days is doable then that's a bonus

You can cut the stems cut all large fans off and they will dry I'd say in 10 days .

5 to 10 days yh can always put in a cardboard box or paper bag to prolong the last bit and the smell won't be as bad.

Personally I wouldn't want to be rushing the drying process on a yearly crop. It takes so much time and effort to get it to the finish line, what's one extra week of not having mates round for a far better end product.

Yeah mate your right I totally agree but some people have different situations and sometimes shit needs to be done as down low as possible. In my last flat I could grow year round and dry till my heart was content but new place and new obligations will simply not allow.. What can ya do

Ya know what guys I'm just gonna go camping for a week to 10 days up a hill in a windy spot. I'll take my own tent and another for drying, Keep both sides of drying tent open for air and have a heater in there I can keep my eye on and refill if necessary.

So what's the recommendations for the best heater for say a four man tent? Gas? Parrafin? Whats small and easy to carry on a rucksack? How many refills would I need for 10 days?

Honestly like I'm so fed up of looking through the bay and the river and I just end up getting confused

Also, Ive tried to read as much of this thread as I can but my eyes get tired so easy and it's hard to take note of everything, trying to put words into images in my head is confusing sometimes.. I've got all 3 brain cells lined up and it's just not enough cpu to process so much information, googling about btu's and shit it's just a mad rabbit hole I'm too stupid to go down. Sorry I'm a bit fucked atm

Camping trip sounds good @Punk#1 Heater wise, you could make your own from a sealed pot with no hole with oil or paraffin in, foil 'boats' with cotton wicks, put an upturned terracotta pot on the top ensuring air can get in somewhere as well as out through the hole.  Or just buy a greenhouse heater maybe.   I ended up hanging chopped autos in mesh laundry bags under a tarp last year well hidden in woodland.  After four days, they were ready to go into a silica gel set up to finish the dry.  Took about 10 days and another week in jars with the lids off.
