is sweat cure not just a case of putting it in a bag to sweat, meaning a large amount of the moisture within the buds is drawn to the surface of the buds allowng them to dry quicker?

Well i got a great supply of horsetails and mare's tails growing around here and there is no plant higher in silica than them (chop into small pieces and soak in a bucket o rain water for 2 + days). Great for feeding with (especially if wood ashes are added to bucket etc etc). Do you mean though, spraying with horsetail teas as well? I am not aware of any anti-fungal properties in horsetail (even though I am a trained medical herbalist). Guessing it just strengthens the plants structure and immunity from inside.

i used it as just heavily diluted tee, no spraying,

Hi Red Eye

The plastic bag method is a variation for small amounts of bud. Here is a definition.

Sweat Curing

Sweat curing is the technique most widely used in Colombia. Long branches containing colas are layered in piles about 18 inches high and a minimum of two feet square, more often about ten by fifteen feet. Sweat curing actually incorporates the fermenting process. Within a few hours the leaves begin to heat up from the microbial action in the same way that a compost pile ferments. Then change in colour is very rapid; watch the pile carefully, so that it does not overheat and rot the colas. Each day unpack the piles, and remove the colas that have turned colour. Within four or five days, all the colas will have turned colour. They are then dried. One way to prevent rot while using this method is to place cotton sheets, rags, or paper towels between each double layer of colas. The towels absorb some of the moisture and slow down the process.

Sweat curing can be modified for use with as little marijuana as two large plants. Pack the marijuana tightly in a heavy paper sack (or several layers of paper bags), and place it in the sun. The light is converted to heat and helps support the sweat.

Another variation of the sweat process occurs when fresh undried marijuana is bricked. The bricks are placed in piles, and they cure while being transported.

The idea with this would be to speed up the removal of the homegrown chlorophyll flavour so that drying within a week afterwards would create a smoother product than it would otherwise be with such a quick dry as that...

here is a 1 Kw ceramic propane heater. It has a fuel efficiency of 100gs per hour so a 7kg propane bottle (which can be pretty comfortably transported in a rucksack) will run it for 70 hours... It has a flame fail shut off feature to help not burn down your drying tent/bender..

100000044

Lifestyle Sunny Heater

Perfect for keeping your conservatory, caravan or tent warm during the colder months.

Features an enamel burner with flame failure sensor.

Porcelain Heater Details:

Heat Output: 1kw.

Porcelain Enamel Burner.

Flame Failure Sensor.

Feet for Stability.

CE Approved.

Width: 37.5cm.

Height; 16.5cm.

Depth: 7.5cm.

NOTE: Area needs to be well ventilated.

Can be run from any Butane or Propane Bottle with appropriate regulator.

I would guess about 4,300 btu's

About £80

Or for more intensity (harsher smoke prob too) and a bit less money

LP13.V2.jpg

Ceramic plaque type heater.

Mounts on the rim of a propane cylinder.

Adjustable output from 9,200 to 17,000Btu/hr.

Supplied with 700mm of hose and fixed regulator.

DVGW Approved.

Gas bottle not included.

Specifications:

Model No: LP13

Fuel: Propane

Output: 9,200-17,000Btu/hr

Fuel Consumption: 0.216-0.400kg/hr

so on minimum this would run for about 32 hours off the same bottle.

Costs about £45

The good thing with the sunny is you can sit one of these thermoelectric fans on top of it.

eco-fan-actual.JPG

I live off grid and a lot of my friends have got these, they are really really sound things, i was shocked. Way more powerful than some pc type fan and free from leccy :smug:

They cost about £85

All prices are based on current fleabay deals....

Oh f~~k! dunno why images are not appearing best go learn how to sort this out damn it that took quite a bit o doing too :wallbash:

hi theyre try searching for MASSIVE OUTDOOR COMMERCIAL GROW its on a well known cannabis forum I C it on theyre MAG

very long thread 195pages .2yr long thread by julian lot of good info in theyre will take a bit of searchin to find the outdoor dry info

Thats a classic thread, I think it originally started on the 'overgrow' site then over to IC*** when OG got shut down. I tried printing that thread off once for some bedtime reading but it would've ran in to 700 odd pages and that was 18 months ago!

Thanx to both Smokin and Marcos found that thread but, is pretty intimidating amount to get through (am on page 6 so far) and he is in USA so may not be relevant but, i have go till August to trawl through and find out i guess.. :book:

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but a canvas cover would work a lot better than a plastic one to remove moisture.

Christ in a bucket! That Julian really knows how to spout off, its pretty cool too...

Found the relevant info and it is the good old 'string em up on a line between trees under a tarp' method. However the guy is talking about roasting hot parts of the US where temperatures are commonly 30 - 40 degrees in summer. So not completely relevant to us here in Old Blighty..

see marcos post about half way down, it can kind of be done in the uk. i thought about doing this last year but it all went moldy before i could harvest. the little i salvaged didnt smell too much so drying wasn't a problem. im hoping for better results this year though so i may be in in the same boat as you with regards to drying!

Nice one Red Eye. That is similar to Julians suggestion. DrY Ice would be very interesting if it did not leave the weed still tasting chlorophylly. Hmmm wonder if their is a different way to use it....

What you gonna grow this year?

LG, so far this year only purple maroc and the c99 hybrid i got free. i'll probably get some easy sativa aswell once ive found the plots.. how about you? what do you plan to grow?

oh yeah Marcos im aware its from another forum but as has been said thats in the u.s. where they probably have a better autumn than we do, its just nice to see it done in the uk with good results :guitar: i hope it doesn't come to outdoor drying but its good to get all the info as early as possible just in case

i also read something Wakenbaker wrote in 2009 saying he was gonna wrap his buds individually in newspaper an leave them in a tent to dry. if you read this mate did it work out for you?? id imagine that it would have been a mold-fest though..

HI, we thinking 100 ish reg KC36 (we got 160 seeds from last years crop) and 40 Easy Sativas for this years grow.

Yep dunno about Wakenbakers idea either as never heard of anyone doing that except for in boxes when curing. Hope he checks in as I do not have PM capability yet.. :wassnnme:

Fortunatley I was able to dry at a mates house.

I will hopefully be able to do this again this year but heres a thought.

Building a small, stealthy shelter on site?

4 short posts in a rectangle

2 Rails flush with the tops of the posts.

Boards across top to make a roof

Boards down sides but with air gaps

Shed roofing felt to keep rain out

Cover in brambles, paint green ect

It only needs to be slightly higher than your longest cola so no haybarn! would be a right mission getting the materials into the site and keeping quiet whislt contructing so site selection here is v important. Also theres the added risk of theft/discovery. But for thoose who arent growing simply due to a lack of drying space, or thoose who have done much better than they expected and only have room to dry half there harvests :wassnnme: the idea might have merit.
