Looks good, i was thinking about how expensive those carbon things with the FANs are and thought it looked easy to build, might make one seeing how it only cost £10 for the activated carbon etc.

they cost £50-100 just for the carbon filter... homemade ftw.

looking good, nice to see people finding cheaper alternatives and making their own.

I made a diy scrubber a few years back, bit bigger than the ones that have been shown, bout 2.5 foot tall i think, same idea though. i made mine with

wire fencing mesh (not chicken wire), hose clips, tights and various ducting bits and bobs. got the carbon from a large pet store in the fishy section.

only cost around £35 give or take a few £ and was really effective, could refil it too.

cursing myself now coz i sold it along with all my other equipment when i went through a "im not growing anymore" phase

They just don't cut it though with a grow imho not enough Ooomph and they are not designed to run 24/7... I bought mine from B&Q... thank god for their return policy... bit like undersized filters, not getting at you btw, followed the undersized DIY filter route myself (HERE)... room full of White Russian taught me a lesson, I'd been smug with one northern light.... the missus made me buy a proper CF it but she paid

I was just reading an old thread where a guy asked the question,''how do i make my own c filter?''.

A good few people said to buy one , a proper one and sort of save the hassle.

Personally I think if there's enough air flow and carbon in a homemade can ,and its hooked tight to the extract then I cant see it being any different.Maybe I'm wrong but i thought it was purely down to filtering the scent in the air through the carbon.

They do seem expensive , even for what they are.The d.i.y pecil holder one is almost identical to some of the cans on the market ,smaller, but it's the same thing i think.they're probably most efficient with new carbon and a good extract.

Great post. I've seen a few different designs for DIY filters but this seems like the best yet.

how ya doin,

sorry since the post i have up graded,purely because i have started a grow fridge,

But the cf was in my last growdrobe and lasted for the whole growth of 2 plants in my house and no smell at all so nearly 4 months and no problems.

I have now been given a CF by a friend and wont be doing a diy job till its finished but am gonna use the same principle but instead of pencil holders i,m gona upgrade to MESH BINS!!!!
