diy carbon filter

43 posts in this topic
hi jj69....

was talking about this the other day with

another 420 member, replacement carbon fiters can be expensive,

top marks for creativity jj69,

heres to ya......... :spliff:

if your looking for an even cheaper way us a pc fan connected to some cheap ducting ( found mine in the loft!!) at the other end cut a coke or any other plastic bottles ( has to be straight) leaving a centre ring of around 4 inches shove this in the ducting and secure to the end with masking tape i used it to seal the pc fan to the front, you need to make sure the fan is sucking not blowing out shove this through a hole in your grow area what you will have is an exhaust system!!! the clever part is get a yogurt pot if you used a large coke bottle and cut it in the middle to make the RING the actual yogurt pot and li should fit over the exhaust ring perfectely, make as many holes in the yoghurt pot and lid as you can what you want is good air flow through the pot keep testing it till you get a flow then put your pot in a stocking and fill it with active carbon seal the ends with a knot and place on the exhaust ring!!! VOILA the cheapest replace your own carbon filter system available all DIY.

if you are intrested i have images at your request tooooooo mashed to put them on now :spliff::spliff::spliff:

i visualise your comment, am a little wrecked at the min, but yes pls do send or post up your pics...mm the bit about making the fan suck rather than blowing out air...ok so how do ya make sure you get it sucking the air? your reply is just wat i wanted coz, i was going to make my own, nd coz im such a cheapskate lol so the pics would be greatly appreciated...mmm sounds like ill have to pull my finger out here...cheers jj69

One side of the fan will be sucking air in and the other side will be blowing it away so its just a case of turning the fan around if its blowing air away.

this shot will show the fan connected to the ducting wrapped it emergency blanket connected to the coke bottle ring shoved out the hole and the yoghurt pot put in with the smaller end inserted first and the lid put on last to seal it :bag: more pics

you can also make an intake as well just remove the carbon pot and reverse the fan to blow in

picked these up at a carboot sale for £20 never used them before always used cfl,s but thought what the fuck put them in :smoke: #

seem to be ok for vegging all plants shot up well but they need a boost at flowering just added a few cfl,s and all was good 1st plant 20 inches 2oz of great bud am restricted to only 2 plants in veg and same for flowering

heard loads of negative vibes concerning these but gotta say cheap bills leaves can touch the lights no probs YET

here is an upgrade of the carbon filter
