Hi guys as new grower I'm wondering if I'm giving my girls enough water. They are in 10ltr cloth pots growing in Clover MPC and saw a tip that says "watering up to 25-30% of the total pot volume " so that would be 25% of (10 litres) = 2.5 litre. This seems a lot of water even if on a wet dry cycle. Any advice welcome.

Hi everyone. I got a couple of seeds (northern light autos) that sprouted their tap roots about 4mm long and I have planted them into final pots of clover compost. Their in just 1/2 inch and keeping the tent around 24c light off. How much watering do they need till they pop out ? I have just gave them a light misting with ph6.5 at the moment and scared of over doing it. any tips welcome. Cheers

Can anyone tell me what to look out for when Auto's need feeding when growing outdoors in pots. I know when to water, if the pots feel light when lifting, but when should you feed them. I read that if you use good soil, they shouldn't need feeding. But some of my larger fan leaves are turning yellow, and when i posted some pictures, on here to ask why, someone said they are hungry and need feeding. But surely when the when fan leaves are going yellow, it might be a little to late. I know there are many reasons why leaves go yellow, but going by my knowledge, it isn't due to over watering, as usually you would see leaf droop, due to leaves holding excess water. It isn't due to PH levels as this mainly affects Hydroponically grown, I am growing in soil, which should balance out the PH levels. My auto's are just coming into flower, about 2.5 weeks. is it a natural cycle for auto's for fan leaves to die off to put energy into buds.

Hi all, I hope you old hands can help me come up with a watering solution as Im going away for a week and I dont want my 3 girls dying on me. Each of them are taking 2 pints of water every 3 days - I was planning on flipping them this weekend, I guess I could wait a few more weeks as FEMS

Hi guys New to the forum, not many rockwool users where i live, si i found uk420 doing a googloe, so far i ve found great info, feels like a good community here. Anyway, I moved after many years from Coco to Rockwool and fr5om bottled nutrients to powder,it was something that was in my head for a wile and it was time to change both Coco and buy new nutrients, clones where already in Coco plugs when I decided it. Finding RW bloks was a bit of a nightmare and since the clones where big and full of roots i took 3"x3" blocks until the 6" will be delivered next week(I hope), pre soaked them 24h at 5,5 ph,then changed water for water + nutrients at 5,5ph,1,0EC, today i transplanted the clones into the pre soaked cubes, i didn't squeezed them just gave them a light shake to get some water off. My question is, when should i give them the first watering, since the cubes are soaked i guess it will take a bit to get the moisture content down now at the start? Any other advice you guys might want to give me regarding the basics of watering Rockwool I am all ears, will be using drippers when the 6" cubes arrive,in the mean time will be doing it by hand Many thanks in advance

Hello growers, So ive read about using a bubbler for fish tanks to disolve oxygen in a bucket of water and then use that water to water soiled plants to increase uptake of nutrients, has anyone had experience with this process and can bring some knowledge towards the subject squashing any myths or confirming any truths about the subject? Thanks!

Just a quick bit of advice please all. I've got my 2 emergency outdoor autos and they're looking ok so far and about 4 weeks or so into flower. The problem is I only left them is smaller spots smaller pots for stealth but then larger one is needing feeding every day. Is it too late to transplant and if not how to best minimise shock

Hi guys , a new comer here , been reading quite a few bits on here so decided to sign up and get involved myself. i have a few questions regarding watering/nutrient feeding cycle ? my grow space is 1m x 1m x 2m Lighting : Spider farmer sf1000 tempature is : 25 degrees humidity is : 60% ph level : 6.2 soil : Gold Label Special Mix Soil instead of germinating my seeds i put them straight into the soil in 10L pots to try and minimize anything going wrong theyve just sprouted and ive been giving the soil just enough water so i dont drown them . But my main questions are , im using advanced nutrients 3 part micro , bloom , grow so at what week should i start adding nutes ? How much ML per litre should i mix ? Do i feed the plant nutes everytime i water or do i feed with nutes 1 day and then just PH water the next ? And while the plant is still small do i still water enough so i get run off or will i drown them ? Any advice will be great like i said im new to all of this and just looking for some guidance

Hello all, I have a very nice looking 3 week seedling but I am leaving in 10 days for 4 weeks holidays... I live in Athens and grow currently in my big balcony in a medium size pot (22cm in diameter and 22 cm in height) which should hopefully be ok until I come back. The big problem is watering... I could take it with me on holiday but it is a bit risky. I am thinking to install an auto watering system with one drip head 5 cm from the center dripping a small amount of water say x lt and 4 drip heads 10 cm away from the centre all around the edge of the pot dripping 5 times as much water (5x lt). I must say I am not experienced canna grower , I have done it only once some years ago but I was home all the time. Do you think it will work ? Do you have any suggestions to make ? Thanks in advance.

Evening UK420, this is my first post. This Is also my first grow, I’ll get straight to it I’ve got a flexi tank which I fill with water, I let it stand for 24 hours whilst pumping air into it with air stones and an air pump, I ph my water to 6.5-6.8 just before watering and I’m growing in soil. I’ve been told to water using water that is 18-20°C, how does everyone maintain this temperature ? Also I bought a tank heater however it’s made for fish tanks so was wondering what heaters do you use to heat the water ? Also I noticed my humidifier has been hooked up to a tank of water that’s got algae running through it I’ve since drained, cleaned and replaced with fresh water but will the couple of days that it was running with dirty water affect my grow ? lots of questions, I know. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help with anything

I found a novel way to deal with the ballsache of watering 5 plants in 6 L air pots. Before I used a 1L watering rose spout, but it took ages, and always leaked out the sides. I saw someone mention a camel back pack (like motogp racers have on their back with a straw through helmet), and thought, an enema bag with the longer anal attachment (it has four holes at the end of a silicone probe - about 7 inches long) might do the trick. So I got my enema bag (i have diverticulitis so need to do a colonic irrigation twice a month), put in a litre of solution) hung it from one of the bars at top of tent, pushed probe in about two inches, and opened the valve. It's a T shaped thing, that lets you control the volume exiting the nozzle. I gave it about 15 mins per plant. Then left them for a while, disposed of run off which was through bottom of pot, and not pouring out the sides, job done. You can get different types of kits on fleabay and the other place. Cheapest one is £6.80, but has an open top so if you have a bit of a slip, the water would go everywhere. I've just ordered one that has a screw in stopper - looks a bit like a hot water bottle, so it's more secure. I'd recommend it to anyone fed up with the mess involved in watering Air Pots....... And that, gentlemen, is the only original thought I've had in decades

I started the seeds in rapid rooters. I was watering them with just RO water for a week. I bought a 4 inch rockwool block. I did not wash it out in flowing water i just put them in a large bowl and adjusted the PH around 5.0. The water EC was 0.2. After few hours later the PH was 5.8 I PH'd down to 5.0. I did this battle for 2 days than putted the rapid rooters into the rockwool. I rinsed some water out of the rockwool so it was not dripping wet. I put them on a grill and folded the top with mylar. Each cubes hold 0.5 liter of water. I tried watering them as Grodan's advice -> when the cubes were half the wetted weight (it takes about 3-5 days) to 10-30% runoff. After 2 weeks i began feeding them around 0.6-0.8 EC. When i watered the cubes the PH was around 7.0 and the EC was over 2.0. I flushed them out with a lot of nutrient solution but next watering the EC was high again... What was i doing wrong? Propagation? Watering schedule? Next i will start with 1" rockwool then into the 4". I will use RO water and GHE flora series for soft water. I want to do a NFT grow. So my questions are: 1. How should i properly prepare the rockwool? The 1" and the 4"? 2. When should i start fertilizing? 3. How should i water the 4"? To runoff or not to runoff?

Hey there, I'm starting this thread to get a general overview of people's opinions and personal experience. I've had some excellent feedback from trusted and experienced members of this community and in no way am I attempting to second guess or disregard their sound advice. Having recently had some worrying results with my watering methods, I'm trying to make a solid plan for my upcoming grow. If you have the time to check out my grow journal, you'll see that I've just had to deal with root rot, something we all want to avoid. I grew with Sohum Living Soil in a 10 gallon pot, based the pot with perlite and filled the tray with water once it had all been used up. Not a good strategy I'm now realising. For an autoflower the pot was too big and the roots were swimming in water. I'm planning to give the Sohum another run but need to change a few things. There must be no standing water where the roots can come into contact with. 5 gallon fabric pot this time. Pot will be raised to allow airflow underneath. Sohum advise to water from the bottom, which is why I adopted this method. However, others have disagreed with this method. Therefore, the way I see it is I have two options: Capillary mat - although I'm concerned about the constant contact between the pot and moisture. Top watering - I'm concerned about washing the amendments from the compost and not providing the consistent moisture that living soil thrives in. I thought about using a capillary mat until the soil is moist then removing it to allow a wet/dry cycle, but I'd be concerned that my soil was consistently underwatered using this method. Any ideas?

Hi all, I'm a complete noob to all this and need to get some decent advice before I get things going as the seeds have arrived!! I have very little space to play with which meant I got a 75x75x200 (WxDxH) tent, 450w LED light, carbon filter/extraction fan, a 65x65 wilma with 4 x 11ltr pots.. I have a bunch of extras like oxygen pump, heater (as the tent is in a shed, a concrete shed but a shed all the same), oscillating fan etc. This will be my first grow ever and the advice I get seems to change often, I've been reading this forum and everyone seems happy to help so here are my questions.. I was told to use 1" rockwool starter cubes, move them to 4" cubes once ready and then the 4" cubes into the 11ltr pot filled with clay pebbles.. Is this a good way to go as some people are telling me not to put rockwool in with clay pebbles? If I do stick with this medium setup do I drip feed or flood as rockwool and clay seem to prefer the opposite method? I appreciate there is no real set watering schedule but if i am going with rockwool held in clay pebbles can anyone give me a good starting point for the number / duration of feedings the plant should have? i can dial it in from there. I will be on an 18 on 6 off light schedule (maybe 19:5 just to test it) and was told not to feed during the dark period. I think i have the EC / PH / reservoir cleaning all down and i will pull back on the nutrient dosage to around 1/4 of recommended as I am growing autos and that seems to be common advice from everyone. Any tips / advice you can offer would be really appreciated Let me know if any of you need more info on my setup before offering up ideas. Thanks

Hi guys, I'm wondering if anyone can help me out please So 9 days ago I planted my 2 blackberry auto seeds (ungerminated) into 11 ltr pots with coco/perlite mix, using a cup with the bottom cut off, only watering around the cups, as I know these pots are too big to start in! A couple of days, and the little sprouts had popped their heads out, looking healthy and strong, they've been under my 300w Marshydro LED lights, temps have been around 27 to 31 degrees Celsius....I also added some Rhizotonic to the water Id given them , just to give the roots a boost at the start, but only 1ml of Rhizotonic in a pint of water (not using the whole pint...except one day where I did!) Now on day 9, they are looking strong, leaves are a dark green, and the second set of leaves are just showing, but the first leaves are bending in on themselves rather a lot! and look puffy to me (A sign of over watering perhaps? I'm not sure) There is no yellowing or discolouration (besides a brown bit where the seed shell was stuck to a leaf) the leaves just look very "curled"...both plants are about 1.5 cm tall at this point. I just can't tell if they look normal, or if something is wrong, any advice would be greeeaaatly apreciated!

Any/all suggestions would be gratefully accepted, also i thought Sarah was stretching so i moved all three closer to light source (10 inches from led). Eve @ 7Days Mary @ 7 Days Sarah @ 3 Days

Hi folks, this is prob a stupid question, but, i've been reading posts and topics and the terms watering and feeding come up, i understand the first 2 weeks the seedlings dont need food as the soil has food in it, so i take it i use clean ph'd water(mines is ph8, is that ok?), then from 3rd week on i mix the nutrients (bio bizz line) with the water and use that. or do you have norm water and another with nutrients, please forgive my dimness

Hi guys, I have an OG Kush 5 weeks into flower, I normally water every other day. Last night she seemed fine for moisture, got back from work today and she was dry as a bone, and very droopy, gave her a good watering, should she recover quick with no real damage done? I should probably water every day now I reckon

Bit of a panic here... not sure I'm posting in the right place... I have three seedlings on the go, two skunk #1 and one White Skunk - planted in moist coco 7 days ago after germinating fine in kitchen towel. They have been watered once (20% flow through) 3 or 4 days into growth, then and given about a shot of tap water each when the pots felt a little light. Still moist on the bottom though, just drying out in the lights. They are under 75 watts cfl, positioned a few inches above growth. The weather has not been kind - temps have gotten to 29.5 in there for a few days, dropping to 25.5/26 in the night with lights off. I've managed to keep it under 29 for some of the time by keeping the tent open. This is a first grow in a 60x60x140 tent, and only my second grow. The White Skunk was the first to show signs of stress - leaves curled upwards and then dried at the tips. Since, first signs of new growth have appeared though the tips also seem a bit dry: One skunk #1 also began to curl up, then its stem collapsed!! I repotted with root powder, but its looking very sorry for itself/dead!! The puzzling thing is that one of the Skunk #1 seems OK, its not looking too bad at all - it has new growth coming through, but its really slow... all the plants have been treated pretty much equally. Any help/suggestions to perk things up would be very welcome! Thanks!

Hello everyone have a question to ask, would like to give a shout to @@SkyRider for helping me so far ect.. I first thought i was planting autoflowers, somehow i managed to germinate and not realize for a few days that they were just fast version seeds (Sweet seeds cream caramel F1 to be exact) yeah i know right real stupid.. The most stupid thing was i was following this guide which i was telt on here wasn't that useful. To cut it short i germinated 4 photo seeds straight into 11 litre pots of coco and perlite 70:30, they are sprouted fine just now there light pale green, there not dead as i say @@SkyRider has done alot to help me so big ups to him, but hes a soil guy! Hes helping me to the best but theres gotta be someone whos done or know someone whos done this before? Anyway there on day 8/9, three of them are fine as i say abit light but number 4 is still lacking on producing any new leaves. (BY THE WAY ITS MY FIRST EVERY GROW, JS;)) I started them on a ph of 6.5 thinking they were autos i give the pots an initial soaking of that before germinating anyway i started dropping it now ive been told and read that i should be giving in the region of 5.8-6.0 ph, is this correct i have done this for the last two days just with misting the top soil so hopefully that sorts them... But since ive put them in big pots i dont know the best way about watering ive read so many claims let it dry out, flush till run off, ect i havent watered or fed till any run off so far ive just kept misting the top soil there are still abit heavy/damp so still have water in them but should i flush till run off to see if thats the problem? thats what i dont know since there only babys and they obviously wont have much roots yet? Anyway that probably sounded confusing as fuck i hate typing so bad!, im a bit stoned but everyone on here is full of helpful advice i was wondering if anyone could sort off lay something out there!! Thanks james, happy smoking
