During my current grow, which is currently at week 4, I accidentally snapped the main stem while performing LST. Attempts to splint it back in place were immediately unsuccessful as the break was just above a node, literally just a couple of millimetres. I couldn't hold the top in place to graft back on. So I inadvertently topped the plant, but she's doing fine. I took the top, popped it in a tub of water to try and keep it alive. I then placed it in a small amount of water in a ziplock bag in the salad crisper in the fridge. My thinking is to try and make a clone of this plant because it's a nice strain with vigorous growth. Having done some reading, I know it's possible to clone autoflowers, but with the caveat that the genetic clock is still ticking. I'd like to try it as an experiment. I got hold of some rooting powder, and I plan to try and root the "cutting" in compost. I just checked in the salad crisper, and no-one has eaten the cutting, which is good. (Labels in capital letters saying 'NOT FOOD. LIVE PLANT. DO NOT OPEN!' probably helped). Also she has perked up from the wilted creature of a couple of days ago, looks really fresh. Whaddaya know? Salad crispers work! So Operation Clone is Go. As there will be no room in my wee grow cabinet if the cutting roots successfully, I bought a small tent in the sales. I have a spare fan, filter and ducting, also my backup InkBird, heat mat and circulation fan can be put to good use. I also have a spare grow light, which believe it or not I picked up in a charity shop last year. Unused, still in packaging, basically brand new. It's another interesting design by Chinese manufacturer Fecida. Basically consists of four 'sunlike' full spectrum COB style LED boards, rated at 50 watts each. I tested one and it draws 47 watts. Now what I like about this design is it is modular. All four units can be used individually, or daisy chained together to make a larger lamp. You can just use one, or connect two together, or go for all four. I think four would be too much in my small tent, so I'm going to join two together giving me 94 watts of LED. But I'm getting ahead of myself. I'll start the cutting off in compost in my heated propagator. I'll just set it on a table near the window, out of direct sunlight. Then wait. If it roots successfully (and signs are good as the cutting looks healthy) then this will be my first ever tent grow, as well as my first attempt at cloning. That's why I started a separate diary, because it's not very stealthy, and it's not in the cabinet! Thanks for reading and I'll post again when I start the rooting process. Link to my diary of the current grow if you want more background:

Hi all, 1st proper thread for me… re-arranged things a bit as I went very long with the background info. So TL;DR version… planning 1st grow, in a tent, in a garden shed, in the middle of Ireland, in the middle of winter… first worry is the cold. I'm thinking autos for my first few grows: 18/24 or even 24/24 might help with the cold; small size; faster harvest Qs: Am I worrying too much about the cold? Would the lamp be enough to heat the whole tent (60x60x140) given them temps outside in the winter (2-4 Celsius min temps)? Should I go for HPS in the winter, LED in the summer? What wattage HPS/LED? I could spend a bit more money isolating the shed and/or I could place some isolation around the tent itself (as I've read in some other treads, double bubble foil glued to the surface; rockwool on the top)? I've found a few random posts on isolating sheds but would be interested in more advice here I have a spare electric oil radiator which draws 1500w (max power in the shed 2500W thou) but would prefer to use that energy for lights. Would mat/tube heaters plus lamp be enough to heat? I've read I could extract inside the shed in the winter in order to recycle some of that warmer air. Would that cause humidity or CO2 depletion issue? I've read a few threads on shed grows (@stu914 @Wooden Monkey) but couldnt find direct experience with cold issues. Happy to be pointed in the right direction… cheers -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Longer version: I'm an old time fan of the plant but a newbie grower. I'm based in Ireland which has similar enough conditions and constraints to the UK. I've read and learned a ton of stuff on the site already but have a few (several) questions to make sure I'm making the right choices ahead of starting to spend money. Will start my 1st grow in early Jan 2021 (I may even start earlier if COVID keeps us grounded for Xmas holidays!), for the moment I'm studying different alternatives, getting the space ready and starting to source materials. Budget is not an issue (within reason). I want to give myself a bit of flexibility in terms of expanding the size of the tent at some point so happy to go above the bare minimum requirements. I have 3 nosy housemates (a wife and 2 kids) so I'm trying to do this discretely… I may be wrong (and please correct me) but the starting point for my grow plan is the location/size restrictions: I'm going to be growing in a grow tent inside my garden shed which is also occupied by 3 bikes, lawnmower and other trinkets Preferred tent size initially would 60x60x140cm (possibility of extending to a 90x60x160 in the future) My main concern is the cold. I'm in Ireland and winters are harsh with minimum temperatures of 2-4 degrees C and frequent strong winds (snow and ice are very rare though) The shed is quite new but made of cheapish materials. It's positioned in a corner of the garden with a high fence protecting 2 of the walls (north and east facing). I will insulate it a bit with some foam under the roof, tarp on the inside of the walls and a carpet on the floor but I would expect internal shed temperature to be 4-6 degrees above external temperatures so the grow tent will have to generate and retain its own heat to keep plants healthy Noise/smell: not a huge concern but I do want a relatively "discrete" solution Power: will have 1 extension cord running to the shed powered from the house's external socket which has a max 2500W output Location/size influence on light choice: Open to any alternative but my preference would be for LEDs given lower running costs, smaller/lighter footprint But if warming the tent is an issue it might be worth getting a "hotter" light like HPS (or combining LED and HPS)instead of filling the tent with heaters I've seen suggestions on heat mats and tube heaters and I have no issue in adding one or both but given tent size I'd like to avoid putting anything larger for size/power/fire hazard constraints I have a spare electric oil radiator I could put in the shed but it has a 1500W draw so not sure if it would leave with enough juice for tent As stated above, I'd want a light that would support a larger tent going forward (volume wise, 50-75% larger) so possibly with a dimmer so I can adjust freely Location/size influence on seed choice: I'm thinking autoflowers for my 1st couple of growths for a few reasons: Can run the lights 18/24 or even 24/24 in case I'm having issues with the cold Suitable for the size of the space Quick turnaround for my initial grows… 7-8 weeks to harvest I do plan on trying a photo once temperatures improves and I can run lights 12/12 Other preferences so far (happy to debate them): 4-inch in-line far + carbon filter (still havent picked a product yet… suggestions?) 3 gallon fabric pots Canna Coco substrate + perlite

So, i wanted to take everyone's advise and get a carbon filter, but the prices are shocking. making do with a bag of carbon open in the tent, and ona outside. Then saw a cheap 8 inch carbon filter. A bit dozy of me, but it never occured to me how huge this thing was going to be. Its an eight inch duct filter, eg inner diam. the carbon thickness is 40mm, so with prefilter its damned near 12 diam and over 400mm long. For a micro grow. FFS, my tent is 60x60 x 120. I can just about jam it into a top corner, but god knows how to duct it. but big issue is - it weighs over 12kg!!!!!! Its a great bit of kit! So, realistically, even if it supports it at first, i reckon my tent is going to be on the edge of collapse!!! any comments on this please?. it is steel framed, not plastic. but not huge, Second question is, without a variable fan, i will be changing the entire air every few seconds or so!!! I simply wont be able to maintain temp and humididty. Therefore i plan to recirculate the air through the filter instead and never extract it. I will have the passive intakes wide open at the bottom, and the ducts open at the top. Is this full recirc ok? Plants are very small so dont influence the atmosphere much.

Hi guys After much thought (and some of your sterling knowledge input ) I eventually bit the bullet and pre ordered the Scopex 350! The specs say its area coverage is up to 1.2m x 1.2m for veg and fower 90cm x 90cm. They in fact reccomend a 90x90 grow space for the light overall as a reccomendation .... my question is simply what size tent to go with? If I'm honest I also purchased a 100x100x180cm tent a few days after in haste but now I'm thinking it may not be big enough? The led unit itself is 57x59cm which will leave roughly 200 mm all around between the tent and led casing but of course I'm worried about the size more for the health of the plants. I also purchased an AC Infinity 6inch to boot ( v happy) so that's the setup spec I guess I need to mention to you guys. Oh I plan to scrog over 4 fabric 17.5 ltr pots in the said tent but I'm undecided on strains at this stage. If need be I can exchange the tent for a larger one if you guys turn around and say I absolutely should go bigger, but if I can get away with the 100x100 then great seeing as space is getting problematic. Thanks in advance everyone, look forward to your responses!

Hi grower, I have a normal silver lined 80x80 tent but want to upgrade to a 1.2x1.2 or 1.2x2.4... to be honest 1x2x2 would be best but cant seem to find that as a tent measurment.. I want to go white walled but can only find budbox and homebox with them, budbox zips look cheap and nasty and the homebox looks slick but bit on the dearer end , any other alternatives?

Hi so first of all id like to say I'm new on here, but really glad that I found this forum. So on to my topic, Ive germinated and planted 18 different plants (5 strains) and as of now they are in 3,5l pots. But I've read so much about that the size of the pots can really determine how big the plants get, and my plan is to put them into 7l pots when they are at day 18. As of now the second set of leaves have sprung and are starting to grow. I feel like there are a lot of experts here from which I could benefit, are 18 plants in 7l pots suitable for the 1 square meter tent Ive got or should I sacrifice some of them to let the others have more space? And is a 7l pot too small or is it fine? (they are all autos) As of now they are growing well and seem to have it great but I'm just worried that it will be too crammed in there when they get bigger. Ive also thought about maybe only having 3 of each strain, as I now have 5 of each... I would really love some input!

Whats good fellow croppers. Just wanted to know if anyone has any grow diary or experience with using LED & HPS ligting in the same space. Equipment: TENT 2.4m x 1.2m x 2.0m MARS HYDRO 1600W BAY6 HPS - Digital Ballast - 600w x2 6inch intake 8inch outake X2 clip fans Drip to Waste Hydro setup Nutrients Shogun range. A B Katana Roots Calmag Silicon PK Warrior Dragon Force Sumo Active Currently vegging under the LED & temps are optimal. Was thinking of using the extra hps on either side at a rate of 300-400 watts each after taking cuttings to fill my other pots for SCROG. Any tips & tricks would be a blessing.

Hello all, I posted ups a thread a few weeks ago but it got massively off topic and I have had time to do some more research. Previously I have grown 8 plants (Autos) in soil in a converted walk-in wardrobe under 2 x 600w HPS. I have since moved and it would be better suited to go inside a tent so was wondering the best size to go for?: 2 x 630w (dual) CMH lights? I was thinking around a 1.2m x 2.2m x 2m tent? Thats giving me room for 8 plants with the reservoir outside the tent? Or would 2 x 315w be enough? 1 x 630w (dual) CMH light in a 1.2m x 1.2m x 2m tent allowing 4 plants and the reservoir outside the tent also? Or would 1 x 315w be enough? Secondly, I'm stuck between the Alien RDWC or the Alien Easyfeed? Cost isn't a factor, what matters is quality, ease or grow and speed really. Like I said, I'm happy to pay extra for the RDWC plus I don't need to deal with loads of soil either. Lastly, for the above two tents, what size RDWC or Easyfeed pot size would be best? I was thinking around the 20litre mark? Cheers

Recently got one of these. Couldn't find many reviews beforehand despite it being a 5yr or so old design, so thought I'd post a quick one for reference. Good Poles are pretty strong, despite only being 16mm they are quite thick and click together nicely. No plastic corners or ends. Feels like it can safely hold more than my previous secret jardin dr90 v2.5, but less than a mates Gorilla tent (best tent I've seen in person though the green qubes look pretty good too). Powder coated, which is nice, if completely unnecessary. Tent skin feels pretty durable and seams are well stitched. Reinforced corners. Very well light proofed*. Viewing window. Obviously not needed and quite high up, works for how I grow my plants though.. Kind of dumb really but I'm trying to populate the good section here .. 3 side access (can all be open at once for putting nets in, moving trays, etc). Groundsheet style floor material (appears to be completely water proof and will probably deal with the inevitable odd spill etc better than normal tent material). Probably more easily torn too though.. Bad Layout: *There are only 4 tubed ports, 2 (8") are are high up (intake and outtake for cooltubes, as if anyone uses them anymore), and another (8") is in the roof. The only tubed ports in the lower part of the tent are a 6" and a 2" or so for cables. This means that unless you are using an active intake you have to use the mesh intake panels on either side, which are not remotely light proof. Rendering the impressive overall lightproofing basically pointless. I know some people run their extraction fans out the roof, but most peeps I know use the side ports, and as the 2 side ports on this have zips for access around them, they are rendered useless when you use them to run the extract though.. Zips: Anyone who's had one of the older budboxes probably doesn't anymore, because the zips all broke. At least that was my experience.. I also know a guy who cleared a grow shop out of their returned tents, and they were mostly budboxes with broken zips . I think the zips on this one are larger, but I'm not convinced they are any better. 5 zips is also just unnecessary and a bit of a pain for me, though I can see why some might find the 3 sided access useful, I think closed 1 zip designs are way less prone to breaking. These zips are also absurdly loud. They don't have any rubber-type backing and the zip-teeth material seems to be plastic and consequently the tent is basically a zip-subwoofer. As in I have to spend multiple minutes undoing the main zip, and then I usually leave it open until I've given them their last watering of the day because of the lack of intakes.. Corners: Basically they are quite sharp, and roughly capped. This makes me seriously doubt the durability if taking it down regularly. My previous dr90 was basic, but the smoothly rounded plastic corners meant it lasted nearly 10 years and being rebuilt at least 30 times.. And the zip still works fine.. Mylar: Basic hammertone, not the better diamond mylar you get in most newer premium tents (even some cheaper ones like Mars). Feels pretty robust though, probably more durable than the stuff in many budget tents. Spill tray: For some reason it's designed to be slightly smaller than the tent, so it sits taut a few cm from the walls. Maybe I'm missing why but it only seems to serve as a place for water to go when you miss with your watering can.. Poles: Why black? It's probably only a % or less, but why make a highly reflective tent, and then paint the poles black? Overall Way better tents to be had, especially nowadays. Generally quite basic and uninspired, not much thought into the layout, limiting user applications. Just a simple upgrade on an old design. Absolutely up to the task though, especially if noisy zips aren't a bother, you don't expect to have to rebuild it often, and you have an active intake or grow in a dark room.

So ive had my grow pretty under control until today outdoors its mad hot and tomorrow its meant to be worse, my tents gone from a nice 24 -29 to 35c!!!the plants look okay and ive put a humidifier and opened every bloody window/door to try get some heat disipitation around the tent but id like to see if anyone else has struggled with this and what they did? Im not going to LST OR water or anything during this they got water yesterday and i dont want to burn their roots or stress them anymore than the heat has, should i raise my HPS light to counter this? Its a complete unknown and lesson for me, all help is appreciated!

So ive seen tents with shiny silver and tents with white walls, i couldnt really find much info on how they differ, if anyone has some info or idea to why they are different itd be helpful Thanks

Afternoon everyone, as it's my birthday in a few days and I'm stuck at home self isolating, I thought I'd treat myself to a Budbox Pro 100x100x200 with white reflective walls. I'm awaiting delivery of some Gelato auto grains. I've already got a few started outside (they're thriving off all this sunshine but a bit leggy); there's a Zkittles auto and a GSC auto. I'm going to put 2 Gelato, the Zkittles and the GSC inside. I did an unsuccessful grow last year which turned hermo because my mate kept looking in at the wrong times. So I've already got a 5" Kaisen extractor hooked up to a Rhino Pro 5". Also have a 5" intake fan that I've stuffed inside a length of ducting for air intake. I'll be doing a grow diary in the relevant section once it's all set up and the grains arrive. In the meantime check out some pics. Peace

Hello all, I posted a similar question a few weeks ago but the thread went very out of topic so thought I would ask again in the lighting section. i have previously grown 8 in soil before in a converted walk in wardrobe but with 2 x Lumatek 600w HPS and all was good with the grows. This time I’m investing in some CMH lights, tent and RDWC (first time) setup (Alien). Looking to grow 8 in 20ish litre pots. So I’m either looking to do the following if the space is correct or what size tent and lights do I need? This is pretty much what I was thinking and also posted in the Hydro section but it’s more suited in here or environment I guess? 2 x 630w (dual) CMH lights. I was thinking around a 1.2m x 2.2m x 2m tent? Thats giving me room for 8 plants with the reservoir outside the tent? Or would 2 x 315w (Single) CMH be enough? I could throw in a few corner LED lights also maybe or perhaps 3 x 315w (single) CMH lights? 1 x 630w (dual) CMH light in a 1.2m x 1.2m x 2m tent allowing 4 plants and the reservoir outside the tent also? This isn’t ideal really as would like 8 on the go to be honest. I’m not fussed about the cost really, just want quality, ease of growth and speed. With regards to the CMH, what are the better brands? Like I have mentioned, looking for dual ones ideally with the ballast built into the hood but being built in is not essential. Cheers all, Hop

Hi, so ive done a lot of reading about 250w hps height and i have got multiple sources saying 2 - 3foot from canopy and the same amount saying 8 - 12 inchs from canopy.. This is the only bit of information i can not find any reason to either of the advised heights, can anyone please shed some light on this?

Hi guys, i'm in veg on day 12 now on a hso gorilla breath in a 10l soil pot (might start a diary soon to help others as well as myself) and its growing pretty fast under my hlg quantum board and i'm already on 3 nodes with the 4th just starting. I'm looking to yield the most bang for my buck as i use weed in either my vaporizer or also in edibles for my pain management and have found it to be the only actual effective natural medicine that i've tried, meaning that i only need around 2-3 ounces a month and i know that this small tent won't exactly cut it but at least it saves me money long term. Is the best way to go about filling the tent up for yield to top now and then begin low stress training the main branches? also do i have to wait a week for it to heal before doing this? I have looked around and have come across many different answers on the topic and thought that it would just be better to ask on here for a better opinion in my situation with such a small tent as this forum has been extremely useful in gaining knowledge Cheers you guys

Using a 3500k rspec board on my first tent set up ever and want to know what i should dim the board to and how far it should be from the pot. I was thinking of dimming to 100w for the begining and slowly increasing from there to 150w in flower? Thanks any help in kindly appreciated

Hi there plant warriors! So my autos have been through the blender a bit. Bit of over then under feeding, some calmag Def (using rain water with biobizz) fungus gnats plus colder roots than I'd like at times (roots temps okay now). I've got lots of damaged fan leaves due to this, I'm 5- 6 weeks out from harvest should I defoliate fan leaves that look half n half green/damaged to increase light penetration or carry on as I have and only take em off when they're ready to just fall away? I know this ain't ideal but it's supprisingly full of nice bud sites across the tent and getting to end of stretch. There was a point where I thought all was lost but they're tough ole buggers. Thanks to anyone with that knowledge in the can.

Will an 80 w greenhouse tube heater do the trick? Should I put it over my intake vent inside tent or should I place it in middle(ish) of tent? Since the girls have gotten bigger my light is way higher and not heating my Lower area so well, just watered with nice luke warm water and run off was wayyyyy cooler. Could explain why they're suddenly taking longer to drink and looking grumpy. They're in stretch, thought they'd be guzzling atm. This loft life is one tricky mofo learning curves all over the shop! Thanks for any 2p's worth that might be floating about!
