  1. Thought i would document a little project we are doing.. It will be a 20t rosin press, hydraulic. It has taken us some time to think about sizes of plates , heat insulation and a few other ideas.. This is the last thread of the rosin journey that started last year here http://www.uk420.com/boards/index.php?showtopic=359903 . I hope this will work out ok ... The 20t press comes tomorrow. The plates are here and ready to go. The PID control and thermocouples/heaters are also on way... Quick peak of the plates they are 4 inch by 5 inch, might get a smaller set later on , see what happens with these first.. That it for now till next time take it easy
  2. A thread about mechanical seperation/solventless extracts. Please feel free to add your own processes and experience to this thread. This first post will be a few pictures and some basic description with future posts detailing the process we use for our extracts. First up are some Tangie heads separated using screens then cleaned up using the static tech. This was with parchment wrapped around a DVD case and I've just started with the paint roller tech. I will detail the whole process from kief to heads in a future post. We have a Sasquash V2 rosin press which we've been playing with trying to find a way to make the process as productive as a butane extraction without a dip in quality..... it's difficult. After pressing a lot of flowers with varying results we are now pressing bubble hash and having greater success. For the bubble hash we use a camping washing machine with the 220u full mesh bag then filtered through a 5 bag set. 220, 150?, 90, 73 and 25. This is the 90 and 73 from the ChemD which was then pressed inside a 35u rosin bag at 165f. I'm really pleased with how this came out. As tasty as bho and bags of power. About 50% return. Here is a shot of some Jack Herer flower rosin which was pressed at 190f and returned 13.5% Next time we squish I'll do a full process with pictures.
  3. Thought I would show how to purge air or fill the pump with hydraulic fluid.. Sometimes you can loose pressure and not have any leaks with a new press or when it's moved..The way to fix it is quite easy..My new press came without enough fluid in the pump,so I filled it up and bled it the following way...Most of the press stuff I do will now be in here, lots of info in the sig from old threads... its also good to add ptfe plumbers tape to any thread on the hydraulics even if they look ok.. the hydraulic oil I use for top up is from machinemart The press used, most bleed the same way... The next pic shows the "dipstick" bolt , the bottom of the thread should have oil on it there is no level mark, just so the threads covered..Best to check when the pump is verticle..Undo the big black "dipstick" bolt .. then bellow is a sliver thumb bolt, this is for letting air out the system and also for filling up with fluid...IF no oil on "dipstick" undo the silver thumb bolt and slowly top up fluid..When the "dipstick" bolt has oil on the thread at bottom the level is correct.. The next pic shows bottom of pump , the release valve.. after you have done up dipstick bolt and silver thumb bolt for air up top open the release valve a good half turn...Then undo silver thumb bolt again, give the handle around ten full strokes, when handle verticle with pump screw shut the silver thumb screw first ,then do up release valve.... The press should now have correct level of fluid and no air in system and active and hold pressure ... How handle should be when shut all release and air release bolt... Thats it for now till next time take it easy....
  4. Hey people. I'v had this press set up for a while now so thought I'd share. The press was around £170, which is about as cheap as I could find a 10 ton. It came needing the hydraulic fluid topping up, hence the plates are mounted higher. The plates came from one of the many cheap chinese sites. I took a gamble as the package was around the same price as the press and came with an enail heating element and enail. The enail is far from the finest quality but is still reasonable. I'v been pressing at anywhere between 240f-300f, though one of my first presses must have been around 190f and produced the finest Rosin I'v ever seen. A few random shots... Random Bud Rosin. Lemon Haze Bud Rosin. Any questions feel free to ask, and it would also be interesting to see other peoples temp/time/pressure routines. Mouse out
  5. Hiya! Another question to throw out to you all. Has anyone tried any sort of rosin press not including hair straighteners? In a nutshell I don't and can't smoke (asthma = reduced lung capacity/low oxy/sats) so I need to either make edibles or make rosin. I am still on my 1st grow (wk 17) but obviously I have to look ahead and I don't really want to be sold a heap of crap costing way too much and as good as a Pork pie in a synagogue! Cheers again and thanks for any info. Respect.....As always Cmoon
  6. Hi, I just want to throw this one out to you all, first because I am new to growing my own (I am in week 17 of my first grow and although it was a mess at first due to trying to grow too many plants in a tiny tent all is now OK and flowering/budding nicely) secondly because I have angina with narrowing of the arteries and hence an abnormally fast heartbeat. My question is fairly simple:- Does all cannabis increase your heart rate i.e. Sativa, Indica, high CBD, high THC etc.? Use will be mainly for painkilling but I don't mind getting a bit of a high out of it too. I will be making tinctures at first and then rosin extraction when I can sort out a reasonably priced press. Any help on this will be much appreciated as I've had enough of the crap poisons my quack throws at me thinking it solves the problem......It just don't! Thanks to all Respect, as always, Cmoon
  7. Hiya, All you great people. I've arrived here because I was looking at the American site with the similar name. I had no idea 3 months ago that growing weed was so popular!.....I love it, everyones doing it, wow! Ok. I'm a complete novice and until 3 months ago didn't give a thought about growing my own weed for pain control. Yes, I have been taking the CBD oils and the like and yes I thing they do work,.......to a certain extent, but boy, are they expensive or what! Worked out I was spending around £120 per week for me and a little for my wife (fibromylalga) I won't go into my pains & bore the socks of you but am I glad I found this site. To cut a long story short, I found 'Sensi-Seeds' in holland and ordered 8 seeds...... 4 Purple bud Feminised, 2 Super Skunk Feminised/autoflowering and 2 regular somethings (I don't remember) Bad move I know, especially when my wife mixed 'em all up! Then armed with seeds I bought the list below:...... 1: 2ft x 2ft x 5ft growtent 2: one 250 watt halide, 3: Two 300 watt LED grow light, 4: a bunch of fertilisers pots dishes, 5: Coco Coir, 6: Two Lamp Holder Socket e27 with Switch ON/OFF 7: Two pendant style hanging LED growlight bulbs 8: Four sheets of Mylar (don't ask) 10: Trotec Air lock for window venting 11: Garland GAL44LSW 24 Cell Self-Watering Propagator - Black 12: Canna 1L Terra Flores 13: Canna 50L Terra Professional Plus Soil Mix Bag 14: Gro-Sure Perlite, 10 L 15: 8 x Small 20cm Round Bell Plant Pots Planters Plastic Green Colour Garden Pots 16: Grow ligh hangers 17: Inkbird ITC-306UK Dual Relays Plug Digital Temperature Controller Heating Thermostat(No Cooling) 24 Hours Day & Night Cycle Timer,3 Pins UK Socket 18: DIGOO DG-TH1001 Indoor&Outdoor Hygrometer Thermometer Sensor 19: String 20: 10 of Whitefurze G01R25 25cm Milano Round Planter - Terracotta 21 10 Dishes for pots 22: Masterplug Indoor Power TMS24-MP 24-Hour Mechanical Segment Timer 23: Aluminium Flexible Fan Ducting (5 Metres)-4"/100mm 24: Micro lens (to see Trichromes) 25: Strainer and filter stuff 26: Balhvit3 in 1 Soil Acidity Reader, Soil Plants, potted plant soil pH and Moisture Meter, Light Intensity 27: 8 of Whitefurze G01R25 25cm Milano Round Planter 28: 20 Litres Perlite 29: 3 Core Round White Flex Flexible Cable 0.75 MM 30: Black Orchid BO-AF-100-UK 100 mm 4-Inch Diameter Axial Flo Fan 31: PH Meter 32: Watering can 33: pH Down + enough epsom salts to fill an olympic swimming pool! 34: Syrige kit 35: Magnesium carbonate 36: calcium carbonate 37:All manner of coco fertilisers and sprays to keep bugs off 38: Pea sticks 39: Neem oil 40: Spray bottle 41: more larger pots and dishes to match Bottle of Glenmorange!!....the most important thing. That was ten weeks ago. Next I will give an update to where I am after 10 weeks. Sorry for the long intro but I thought it best just to show what I had bought for my setup.....(and I thought this was going to be cheap!) Of course I know you don't really 'need' all that stuff but I wanted to keep it precise and simple at the same time. My next post I'll bring you up to date and show some of the pitfalls that at least I stumbled through. Thanks for taking the time to read this. ......So with one very VERY large malt whiskey I will bid you good bye, until next time......Cheers! PS. I now know that 8 plants is plainly ridiculous in a tent of this size......2 x 2 x 5 high

  11. I've been playing around with flower rosin again, experimenting with using filters and higher pressure this time and have finally managed to get my Blues flowers to press out at 20%! I wanted to post this for the people who say that Rosin is too low yield to be worth the trouble and also to prove that good old Ugorg Blues can keep up with all the US mega-hybrids which rarely exceed 20% yield! My largest single press so far has been 2g which yielded 0.4g of really light almost see-through Rosin pictured below (apologies for the poor quality photo, I didn't check it until after it was all collected!).
