  1. Im currently doing the rounds with wholesale changes possibly afoot...I needed a new light, so I went LED - all new, and now we doing OK. I then thought 'since were changing the light, why dont we have a go at hydro? - so I bought coco - and havent looked back thus far...in fact im sure im not, but I feel like im smashing it I recently bought a camper van and like to get away which kind of fucks with the grow - short bursts do anyway. Long term lights off doesnt cause too much harm, up to 3 weeks in my experinece, but the lights are off and nothing is doing... i tried a passive hydro system, Blumats - loved the idea... That kinda worked on their day - ish, maybe, kinda/wanna/sorta didnt really in the end..., and was very unrelaible over periods of days, so the natural progression is just to go all out and go hydro, for the summer anyway. I fancy the IWS system as its largely self contained, apparently it adjusts itself not to over flood, and is bulletproof relaible...and if im only away a few days i can also reduce the res capacity so if I did get an issue, then it could manage the overun.. Im petrified of the nuteage situation. I had problems stabilizing my PH with the blumats in my 47L res and now thakfully back to hand watering - but that wont do at all when I need my open spaces - . I never filled it over about 30L anyway, but my plants were massively over fed which means my PH was probably out. Also blumats in coco dont create runoff so I assume some fo that over feding would have been roots related... In short I want to use an Auto PH range that just needs dosing to the water...does this exist? Is it any good? is it massively expensive ?- who has experience? if any? Im happy to aeriate with a pump of course, but if i could PH without PHing in a 100L res that would make my life a whole lot simpler...and easier. being a long term organic grower Ive never really had to bother about dry plants until recently. Ideally I'd like to fuck off for the week, but if I did that my weed would never grow - part of me wild campervanning is about my weed and devices on tour anyways i digress.
  2. Hi all, So as you can see, I'm growing 3 plants. They are 27 days old and 2 are doing well and one isn't. My camera is crap so apologies for that. All 3 plants are White Thunder although I have suspicions that i got seeds mixed up and the little one may be Dr Widow. I started with 4 plants from seed and then picked the best looking 3. EC is currently 750 ppm (500 scale) and I was feeding them 3 x per day for 15 minutes via my wilma system, in clay pebbles, 18 litre pots. Currently under 400 watt but am thinking of turning up to 600 soon (dimmable ballast). At first I thought the small plant was in a draft so I moved it to the other corner but it hasn't improved. Then I thought it may be over watered so I went down to 2 x feeding per day and I've moved the drippers right away from the little plant. The other 2 are green and healthy, the poorly one has yellow lower leaves, although it has some healthy looking new growth. is it just a dud or can I bring it back to life. all advice welcome. I'm using Dutch Pro hydro and vita link root stim, in a 1.2 by 1.2 by 2m tent . Whatever i'm doing, 2 of the plants like it!!! it's just this little bugger that isn't having a good time. help please!!
  3. Hi I hope someone can offer a little advice please! I have a pair of nice, fast growing, cuts that maxed out their 3lt pots two weeks after potting on from 0.5lt. Growing in 100% coco, they are dry (maybe 80% dry) in 24 hours. I'd like to avoid 3 things: 1 - having to water them twice a day; 2 - potting up into 6lts; 3 - trimming their roots. The question; can I use clay pebbles on the top of the medium (100% coco) to help reduce evaporation? Or, should I just bite it and get on with one or more of the three things I'd rather avoid? Any advice appreciated, even if its - "stop being a lazy bastard and just water them twice" Also, I'm not sure if this thread is posted in the right section - sorry if its not.
  4. First post on this forum, so here goes! I've done a fair few grows using compost and while the results have been good, I'm looking for a new challenge and something a bit more efficient that can churn out a bit more bud for the grow space with less electric cost. I'm currently growing in soil a 1.2m tent with a pair of 400w HPS alongside a 0.75m tent with a 250w MH. I'm vegging 4 plants in the 0.75m tent until it's full in 18l pots, then moving the plants to the 1.2m tent to veg for another couple of weeks to fill out the space before flowering, turning around about 300-350g every 65 days. I then dry the bud in the 0.75m tent for a week before vegging four new plants in there. Works well but now I want to expand a bit and try something new... What I want to do now is a SOG style grow using the WILMA clay pebbles system either using the XXL 16 or 20 plant system. Ideally I'd like to be able to keep my trusty 1.2m tent in use for vegging (BudBox pro so a really nice piece of kit) and then get a 2.4*1.2m or even a 3*1.5 if it can fill out for flowering. I could veg the plants for half a flowering cycle in the 1.2m square tent constantly so it could serve the 2.4*1.2m tent (with two WILMA XXL trays) with a full WILMA XXL tray of plants ready to flower every four weeks or a little less so get a nice 1.4m squared worth of bud every four weeks or less once it's up and running. Has anyone done this? Is there something that I'm missing here? Ideally I'd like to go for the WILMA 16 pot XXL and do a trial run in my 1.2m tent before buying too much new gear just to get the hang of it. So this is my plan can anyone give me a bit more guidance? I've got lots more to ask but don't want to end up writing an essay and would rather start a good old fashioned dialogue with the seasoned experts!
  5. Hi all, I'm a complete noob to all this and need to get some decent advice before I get things going as the seeds have arrived!! I have very little space to play with which meant I got a 75x75x200 (WxDxH) tent, 450w LED light, carbon filter/extraction fan, a 65x65 wilma with 4 x 11ltr pots.. I have a bunch of extras like oxygen pump, heater (as the tent is in a shed, a concrete shed but a shed all the same), oscillating fan etc. This will be my first grow ever and the advice I get seems to change often, I've been reading this forum and everyone seems happy to help so here are my questions.. I was told to use 1" rockwool starter cubes, move them to 4" cubes once ready and then the 4" cubes into the 11ltr pot filled with clay pebbles.. Is this a good way to go as some people are telling me not to put rockwool in with clay pebbles? If I do stick with this medium setup do I drip feed or flood as rockwool and clay seem to prefer the opposite method? I appreciate there is no real set watering schedule but if i am going with rockwool held in clay pebbles can anyone give me a good starting point for the number / duration of feedings the plant should have? i can dial it in from there. I will be on an 18 on 6 off light schedule (maybe 19:5 just to test it) and was told not to feed during the dark period. I think i have the EC / PH / reservoir cleaning all down and i will pull back on the nutrient dosage to around 1/4 of recommended as I am growing autos and that seems to be common advice from everyone. Any tips / advice you can offer would be really appreciated Let me know if any of you need more info on my setup before offering up ideas. Thanks

  7. Hi people sorry if this is in the wrong section I'm a newbie here. But just got a couple growing questions and thought you lot could help me out. All the info about my setup is in my profile, grow diary to come soon when I upgrade my mobile phone to take and upload decent pictures. Would I be OK not ph'ing my solution as I'm in soil? Do I need to have my window open in the room letting fresh air in? Can I give cannazym now along with Terra Vega and root stimulant? (Clones about 1-2 weeks old) That's all for now hopefully someone could help me
  8. So... First time ever doing a post in any forum about anything ever! I've put this in the 'New members' bit as although I've been registered on this site for two or three years, I've not been active at all, threw some pictures up of a bit of gardening I did back then but that's it! Had a bit of a hiatus from the devils lettuce due to a change of job and the man being the pri... wan.... ars... being the way that he is. Recently started 'gardening' again due to well, I'll be honest, I missed my own product! So I've always leaned more towards hydro, clay pebbles, I tried soil, really wasn't my thing, yeah more forgiving but, I started on hydro so learned quickly, soil need so much more attention and I'm not always around, main reason I don't have a pet! First time I've ever experienced anything like this though... Mould on the clay pebbles around where the drippers enter, Algae yeah fair enough, I'm not stranger to a bit of the green stuff, should have started using covers by now but hey, I'm not the sharpest knife in the draw! Now at this point I think I should mention that I tend to recycle my clay pebbles. I've never been a fan of using 'bleach' or H202 - call it what you will, sounds like the same thing to me! I've just given the clay a good rinsing out in the shower (and obviously all the equipment) and like I say, never had any issues with mould before. Had a bit of budrot once due to an over crowded grow room, 32oz harvest dry out of a 1.2 meter tent scrog. This time though, due to rushing, I was a bit lax on the rinse and a bit of old root was left in the pebbles. Me being me assumed "meh it can't be that bad, probably just add to nute content, i'll just stick some cannazym/multizyme/'whatever I can get my hands on to the same effect' in there and it'll all be good. Completely forgot to do that sooo... yeah here I am with mould forming on the wet clay... however, at this stage (around 3 weeks into potting) after 2 to 3 weeks of being rooted in soil plugs then 4.5inch rockwool cubes, having been taken from a mother that is now around 4 weeks into flower, they look relatively healthy bar the clear signs of genetic issues (leaf mutation) What I'm trying to say (forgive me, it's late and I work hard in a shit job 8 hours a day 5 days a week) is, HOW can I save these and get rid of this mould? It's definitely mould not salt deposits, I'm hoping the pictures I've taken are clear enough about that! I did ask a VERY patient member in the chat room when I first logged in for the first time in several years, and they were VERY helpful! Not gonna name names as they may not wish to be mentioned, I dunno, but yeah just throwing it out there for everyone else. This person has given me a good start which I shall be getting on with tomorrow! Just wondering if anyone has anything to add to the pot? Haa hahha haha "pot" haha First ever post so please be kind, or don't, I'm a grown up, I can take it!
