  1. I've used RCD's in the past guys but they usually trip when the light turns on. Can anyone recommend an RCD that will handle 1000w lights please.
  2. Hi all, I'm seeing some central growth in the tent at week 5 and was thinking, I could do with a light mover to help spread some of the canopy growth. Would a 1.5m x 1.5m be a good example to use a light mover? I'm about to purchase a 1.5 x 3m tent and was thinking to have 2x 1000w on light movers. I know some people would advise to use 3x 600w. But I feel that would give a more even spread on the canopy but not reach down into the depths. Thought's welcome.
  3. Hi everyone, I'm super fascinated with the 1000w DE Bulb comparison I read on growershouse a long time ago. I'm going to run my own trial soon but I was thinking, is the ballast choice just as important. Or is the variation too small? I currently run an adjustawatt, and from their review was planning to trial the Phillips Greenpower 1000w 400v DE bulb. It's £160, so was curious to the impact of upgrading my ballast as well. What do people think? I can't find any ballast comparisons online sadly.
  4. Hi everyone, happy Sunday!! I've been growing in a 1.5 x 1.5 for a little while now. I've noticed I don't really use my 1.2 x 1.2 for anything worth keeping. I dry in there and use it as a staging tent between cycles. So most of the time, it's empty. I can set it up when I need it in the future in another room for short bursts. Wanting to utilise my grow space, I have for a while been thinking about how I can improve my yield. I grow 9 plants, Coco, feeding through a split system with a pump or by hand feeding. I have an automated drain to waste setup that runs off a weir. So the plants all have ease of runoff. I have a 1000w DE setup. I also have 4x 45w CFL in the corners that I use just under canopy height in the last few weeks. I run a cool hood setup, venting the filter through the light. It's a modified hood, allowing for a nice spread of light, not the ducting-sized cool tubes you have seen on eBay. I've been considering a light mover. My last setup was slightly too tall, which impacted my yield. I only saw 29.1oz, giving me a yield of 12.93 per m^2. But I know my mistake, so the next cycle has been turned a little shorter. My best in my 1.5 x 1.5 x 2.2 is 48oz. But I usually stay around or just below the 1gpw. So, considering a light mover to improve some heat spots as when I boosted the light up to it's 1100w setting I instantly saw issues within hours. I mainly saw some light and heat damage in the central areas which is typical on plants too close to the light. I've been considering a light mover. Bringing the two topics together, I'd like more room around my girls to check, improve my super cropping technique and improve my trimming for top cola production. I'm planning to remove my 1.2^2 and the 1.5^2 and have a single tent, 1.5m x 3.0m. By spreading out my 9, improving my super cropping, I'm hoping it still be a good layout to keep my 1000w DE, using the light mover. I don't want to replace what two lights would do - that is what some people report to try and do with little success. But I want to keep some space around the outer ends. So, for design sakes, I would assume I'd have 0.5m either end. So propose it would be like a 1.5 x 2.0m tent. With some extra space still shooting into those 0.5m ends for sure. But it allows me to trim and care for them better. The side doors of my Orcid 1.5^2 tent just isn't good enough. Would 1.5 x 2.0 x 2.0m be a good footprint to use a mover? I see a lot of people use two lights in this situation but expect them to fill the whole length. Though I could copy the first side and have potentially double, I don't see that as added value. The quality and size of the buds suffer without proper training and super cropping really does allow you to remove those tiny buds before they continue to waste energy. Maybe I'm overestimating how much I can improve their quality and some would advise just fill the tent and trim well before going into flower and being un-accessible. Thanks in advance for any guidance or thoughts.
  5. Hi, My tent arrives later today and I'm starting the kit process. I have been recommended to speak to @diyleduk as they seem like the LED god around here. I will do that, but in the meantime I would also like to get some broader research. Does anyone have any suggestions for off the shelf lights that will fit a 50cm x 50cm x 100cm grow tent? Ideally under £100, as quiet as possible and suitable for both veg and flowering, and from Amazon, but I'm not that fussy where it comes from. I know that's very specific criteria and possibly a big ask, but go big or go home right? Thanks in advance.
  6. Hi guys! Been on this site for years and sorry for the lack of posts. just recently bought a new house and the grow space is slightly smaller than the last and worried about temps with my current 2 x 600w HPS lamps. going to take the plunge to LEDs after a lot of diliberation but it’s really confusing the hell out of me.. so many to choose from and my brain is starting to hurt with all the different info I am seeing.. some swear by LEDs and some say don’t do it! Grow own space is a 2.4m x 1.2m tent. can you guys please let me know the best LED set ups for my grow space please! Hard to trawl through all the posts about LEDs and the best threads seem to be a couple of years out of date.. I just need to know part numbers for the best ones and any other kit I will need to get a fully operational set up going. was looking at DIYLEDs page and all of his kit is out of stock at the moment so was wondering if you guys have any other suggestions? looking to spend £1,000 tops so best options would really be appreciated.. thanks all in advance. SJ
  7. Hello everyone, Is 60cm grow space enough height? Let me know your thoughts. Thanks, Croc.
  8. Hi buds. I am going to flip very soon, and I have a noob question. While vegging, lights are on at 18:00 and off at 12:00 (following the classic 18/6) Now I'd like to move the hours and start the 'day' at 06:00 til 18:00. (12/12) Can I do that or would it mean a lot of stress for my plants? I was thinking of just keeping lights on today til 18:00 and begin the 12 hours of darkness.
  9. Hi all, just wondering what your thoughts are on this setup, I’m planning on 4 plants scrogged, each one under a 250w hps in a 1m parabolic reflector, reckon it would be enough light? Some of you may have seen the test plant I’ve got in at the moment, it’s a little purple bud auto and I’m playing about with lighting really just to test it out, can’t make my mind up about the lighting though, I know I could get away with 4x 600w hps but it’s in a loft and I don’t want it to get too hot up there, cheers and happy Toking, RGB
  10. Hiya guys been so long since ive been on here cant even remmber my account, so I had to make a new one. Well Its that time again, going to be doing a new room up. This aint my first rodeo, however Im a bit out of the loop on the modern trends of lighting. Ive been using hps lights for many moons, but years ago I heard many great things about LED and plasma lighting, well years have past and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with either of them, or if they can tell me if there still more smoke and mirrors than results? Tried looking on youtube but I dont trust most of them, as there selling the lights and could be swapping out the hps for LEDs once the cameras are rolling for all I know. The price of the LED's is the main issue, it varies from not alot of money to holy fuck thats alot of money for a light. I dont mind spending a couple notes on a light to gamble and see what happens, but not a bag of sand. I dont mind spending on a decent LED light if its going to work aswell as a hps does and has lower running temps, but it must be able to yield the same as what HPS does otherwise whats the point? To boil it down to the point, anyone have any experience with a LED light thats onpar with a 600watt hps light yeild wise that dosnt cost near a thousand pounds. Realisticly I wouldnt be able to justify spending more than 5-6 notes on a light unless it can piss over the 600w hps.
  11. Hi all, My HPS 600 watt bulb is blinking, but not turning on. I do one small grow with it, per year, as I am a light user. I think I've had it 3 or 4 years, and its only on for 4 or 5 months a year. 24/7 for vegging, 12/12 for flowering. Is it possible the bulb has just reached the end of its lifespan? I am hoping thats all it is, and not the ballast. It was working fine at the end of last years grow. Moved my young plants into the grow room today and it wouldn't start up. It's just stuck on blinking. Anyway, ordered a new Omega dual spectrum 600watt bulb that should be here by Wednesday. Hope that does the trick! Cheers.
  12. Hope this is in the right forum... Found this interesting and informative article on too much light and the domino effect / catch 22 it creates... Probably second nature to the experienced growers, but this really helped diagnose the crazy problems I just had in my tent!! A revelation to me! Feel like I understand a whole lot more http://www.growweedeasy.com/too-much-light Cheers
  13. Hi all, Starting up again after a long time off. I've come back and the market is dominated by expensive CMH 315 bulbs. Going to be growing a 4 pot Wilma system in a DR 90 (90cm x 90cm x 180cm). I'm torn between sticking to what I know (a 250w HPS throughout the grow), or going for a CMH 315. Obviously, the later is more expensive, due to the bulbs. I have however seen quite a lot of posts on social media etc about the benefits of 'full spectrum cannabis', although this may just be in relation to the oil extracted from it. Does anyone know how this will affect (if at all) growth of autos and their yields? Cheers!
  14. Slightly odd request but one I am sure many of us have had to deal with in the past... How do I slow down my vegin plants until my flowering plant finishes. I took four cuts from the plant I am currently flowering, and three have rooted fine and I have started them going again... I have a fairly small veg area but it won't accommodate 6 weeks of growth with three plants, so I need to slow them down without harming them. I've managed to stop plants before, but not deliberately and not without doing them harm . So, rthe question is, can I slow their metabolism rather than stunt their growth? My plan so far... I have had them on 24/7 while rooting, so I plan to drop that back to 18/6 to give them less light. I also plan to drop down from 20 watt to a 15 watt cfl and keep them on a light feed... I thought it might also be a good idea to top them multiple times to keep them down - can I take more height off without damage? Any insights would be very welcome!
  15. Hello people, opinions if you will please. I want to set up a separate veg tent and my predicament is should I lay out for a metal halide for the veg tent to go along the line of its a better light for them in veg or do I swap my current all round 400w hps light into the veg tent and upgrade to a 600w hps for my tent which is 1 metre × 1 metre. Many thanks oporto
  16. Looks like I might have a stroke of luck with a friend in need that will be living in one of my spare rooms temporarily. Just had my annual gas check done and signed off, so should be safe to get a grow on. My friend has a 7 ft x 7 ft tent and some experience growing. I know that it's in his interests to keep things quiet. He is a very private person with a healthy amount of paranoia, for a good reason. I was originally wanting to set up inside the house, but my friend noticed I have a large garage that was bricked up years ago (now basically a large outbuilding) He seems to think this would be a better idea. I'm not so sure, it would mean having to have electricity and sockets wired in there, so there are extra costs straight away. I know there are fans that run almost silently, but I'm worried about my neighbours noticing anything suspicious. I used to let them use my garden as a way through when they were doing some work in their own garden and also to let them in my shed to borrow the odd gardening tool. I've started locking my shed door now and want to cool things off with them a bit as they have pissed me off a bit lately. Won't bore you all with the reasons why Wanting to grow in as natural medium as possible and was wondering what the optimum number of plants would be in the 7 x 7? Also what lighting, extractor and fan size I would need? Many thanks in advance. I would take the time to read up more, but have an illness which has got worse over the years that leaves me easily fatigued and causes problems with my vision when reading/trying to concentrate
  17. I'm in the process of adding a new bit of LED power and my grow heads telling me 2 smaller units are better than 1 bigger one. I know LED's can cross each others outputs without breaking down the specific spectrums and am thinking 1 big one would still leave darker edges/corners no matter how good it is to a point. So 2 smaller or 1 big one guys?
  18. hello again guys decided to get a 400w hps for my 90x90x185 tent currently got 4 autos in there under 250w hps would it be okay to put 5-6 plants under the 400w hps ? in 11 liter pots proberly try aut again see if i get any mre than 1 oz a plant unelss you guys think 5-6 photo plants would be better yeild thanks in advance guys
  19. Alright guys! I'm getting rid of my 1.2m tent for a bult wooden groom in its place. I have a dilema though! I am going to have 2 x Ceramic metal halide dimmed to 250w and 1 x 250w hps in the middle. My plan is to nail/screw all three reflectors to a plank of wood so they can all be raised and lowered a the same time... the question is how do I raise them from the door as I won't be able to get to the back once plants are flowering. here is a diagram of the layout of the venting, all simple no problem there. here is a diagram of the reflectors at their highest position and at the lowest position. I have thought about using a electric winch but I am out of my depth loking at them. I did find one electric winch made for raising and lowering lights made by sunsytem but they no longer produce them, and the only ones left are in america... I did think of a manual winch but apperently they are not suitable for lifting weights over head. If anybody has any experience on what manual winch is suitable or an electric one! Or any ideas people may have. If I have not been clear please just ask and i will try to clear it up. thanks in advanced FC
  20. Hello again guys joner here, I have a small tent 80x80x2m currently have a 250w Mh light over my three plants, I know when I start to flower my plants I shoukd get a high pressure sodium Mh bulb my question is if I could use a 600w bulb for the flowering? I have a 250w ballast and a 600w one. Would it hurt the plants if I swapped it to 600 even for the last month. My thinking behind this is it will produce better buds but its my first grow so dont want to upset anything. Thanks
  21. Hello All I have just ordered my kit which involves a DS60 (60x60x140) a 250W HPS light and i'm planning on growing 4 OG Kush. The thing that is making me wonder is, once i have germinated my seeds and i put them in soil in small pots, what do i do with them now? do i just put them in the tent? with the light on? if so how hot is too hot? sorry if i seem a noob...
  22. Yo people! I was wondering if I'm on the right track with potting up.. I've been going jiffy > 1L cup > 11L pot under my 250 but will pot up more in the new set up if its beneficial. T5 1L > 3.5L 600w dual spec dimmed to 250w Root out 11L 600w dual spec cranked up Flowering Does this sound ok? Should I bother with the jiffy pellets or just start the seeds in a 1L pot? Thanks in advance peace
  23. hi everyone im a completely new when it comes to growing , my first grow was this year where i grew 3 plants outdoors (everything grew fine with no problems i used baby bio & tomato feed.. i know its budget but it was a one time thing ) but now i would like to switch to indoor growing . my questions are. i would like a tent to hold 1-2 plants (i know different strains are different sizes i just need a rough idea) so what size tent would be perfect ? also my second question is about the lighting , i know theres loads but i think i would like to go with led lighting due to the low electric cost and the decent yields , so what W led light would be decent for 1-2 plants ? (just need a rough answer) so if i have go anything wrong please let me know so i can learn! thanks everyone!
  24. My timer did not copy me on last night, and I only realized this morning.I have plugged the timer in. What would be the best course of action to take? I am thinking of leaving the light on till 4pm tomorrow and then off until 10pm. Is this the best course of action? What would you good people do? Can't believe this has happened.
  25. Ok so i'm going to starting my 2nd grow soon. Last time I used 600w lights and had a rather successful 1st grow but I think I overdone it on power considering I only grew 3 plants and don't intend to grow much more than that. So my question is as follows, I want to downgrade to the lowest possible light wattage whilst sticking with HID lighting, Ideally 250w since i'll be paying for the electric myself this time round but i'm not 100% sure if it'll do the job hence why I ask you lovely people.
