  3. Went to water again yesterday. All lookin good..that plant in flower is a dfg. Here she is again..the fast deisels are lookin nice too..one gorilla haze is over 6ft tall and 3ft wide and still stretching..the confused royal maz..auto amnesia followed my auto mazar..and some group shots..and finally, a random girl who has nothing to do with growing any cannabis and is blind so didnt even know it was weed officer, tryin to find some shade..i did find a few tiny caterpillars trying to cucoon on my girls so they all had a thorough inspection. I think weekly visits will be necessary now to keep them at bay. Gun a have to park in different places and trek i reckon. Not ideal but necessary. peace

    rock hard buds

PGRs are plant growth regulators. Typically manufactured versions of natural plant hormones that are normally produced in low concentration in plant tissues applied in ultra high concentrations to the outside of plants. This can cause residual build up and they have been implicated in many human health issues including cancer, nerve damage and birth defects when used in food crops. Jury's out in terms of the impact of them when smoked or vaped. The perceived benefit is (sometimes) higher bud density and less airy buds, and less trimming required. If you see a bland hard ball of weed with no real distinguishable flowers its often PGRd to hell. Most I've seen have also been bland and flavourless but dunno if that's other factors. Browse instagram for 5 minutes to see what I mean. Some buds do naturally look pretty solid that said - my devil cookies cut is a good example. Its almost entirely down to strain and a bit of light intensity.

Is it too late to start growing?

it would be nice to see a thread started with everyone's late starters.. all plants started in July.. its something that always comes up.. "is it worth it" like you say right spot and weather.. get a thread up late starters or what ever just give all the info about what they are planted in.. what they are.. when you germed etcetera it would be handy for next years late starters.. or anyone that needs to get more out a cleanish thread with mainly pics and info on the late stared plants.. hopefully anyone that's already started july plant out will re post there.. not too sure why it keeps highlighting

  15. Thought I'd do a diary of the mainlining process. I'll try and include as many pics as possible for those wanting to have a go. Regardless of extra veg time or effect on yeild, I enjoy the process so will keep at it for now. Two Discobiscuits clones ready to start. The two lowest nodes on this clone are almost opposing and both branches are of a similar size I'll top above them through the red line leaving just two branches Like so The left branch is slightly longer so I applied a little super crop to even the height out and slow down growth Sorry bout the shite pics but hopefully you get the picture. On the next clone the bottom two branches are long and short, not ideal. Nodes three and four shown below are opposing and similar height making much better candidates. I'll top through the red line and remove to two lower nodes. Resulting in this Below two Super Skunk seedlings. I've left them under the T5 a bit too long and you can see the nodes are very close together, a bit too tight for mainlining. Now under the CMH I'm hoping I'll get a bit more stem to work with.

@Dinafem-Mark Thanks mate, oooh now then, the aroma on the one took cuts from is something to behold! aye she smell something else bud and a real fruity loveliness coming on that's making me dribble a bit The cuts but, one is ok and she got potted up today so she's gonna be a mumsy see and that's all I needed (the others failed to strike apart from another but it didn't look the best and very early. I'll try and get an update up tonight but it might be tomorrow mate (I took the photos earlier but I got trim them and do the write up and fucked tbh cos it's hot and I've been a bit busy ) It's really tight on height man and I think when the buds are fatter I'll have to knock the lamp back down to 250 or they'll scorch but will giv them plenty for as long as I can so it don't hit my yield so bad @Smokebelch Cheers bud, yeah you are right mate, me and the coco well it was a forced marriage and it just didn't work out....I like the mud and got some Chempak in too for the bloom on these (in the past I found Chempak nutes, really good ) Thanks for the vote of confidence on the diary too mate, means much it does and after being in the doldrums for a while it's good to feel much better about it all and see that folks are enjoying the work

    AKPOG does Dinafem!

@AKPOG Me too dude, it’s a big investment in time and electric so if you like popping seeds you want a breeder who consistently delivers the goods, Dinafem is my favourite for fem seeds and you always get what it says on the tin. Just a heads up another one worth looking at for Fems is Seedism, always strong genetics and knockout flowers from his gear. Ohh that Super Silver Surfer sounds lush dude, I love lemon tasting flowers. It’s nice to see you got some Purps#1 and OG Cookies lined up, I think you will enjoy growing those out.

@botanicsA quality diary and I am really happy for you that it’s all coming together this grow, I remember the probs you had with the Coco and things a while back. Mud is best dude and I agree about minimal feed, I only use the base nutes and some mycorrhizal inoculant and I get banging results. Anyway keep up the good work dude, I loved the MD when I grew it out, her flowers tasted like a pine forest.

  20. @craigfjyp compared to "normal" veg I've no idea mate as I've always messed with my plants in one way or another. I think this training style is more about the pursuit of quality over anything else. As an example below is a Discobiscuit clone just about ready for flower. It spent 2 weeks in a starter pot, 2 weeks in a 3L, 2 weeks in a 5L, 3 weeks in a 12L, and then 2 weeks in a 20L before flip. 11 week total veg although one extra week in the 12L was unnecessary. The plant has eight tops, was just shy of 15inches before flip, and nicely fills a 2'X2' area.

  22. Photo update and a little detail on setup. As from this morning the lights have been lowered down to about 4 inches of the tallest buds in the canopy. We will see how they respond to this change. Feed is still EC1.2 Ionic Hydro Bloom + EC0.2 of Ionic PK Boost so total of EC1.4 Ph I have let the PH drift over four days from 5.6 to 6.3 then reset. All buds are now linking up and putting on some weight on a daily basis and the Trichome production is really good even the small nugs at net level are covered top and bottom of the sugar leaves etc. Seems to be a fine plant to grow along side the Dinafem - Purps#1, both getting the same feed. Purps is in hydroton the cookies in perlite/coco mix. I think when it comes down to trichomes between each strain the cookies has it even with it being about 10 days behind the Purps#1. Now waiting on some colour over the next few weeks to set in for a stunning display. That's it for now, images below. Toke...

    Late Starters/Backup's

As suggested by @RandyBoBandy in a different thread - Always comes to around this time of the year and have people asking if its to late to start etc Idea is to log down all information from your late starts from this year or previous year's - picture's and as much info as possible. Strain & year you ran plant : what they are/were planted in terms of ground/sacks etc and what you have amended with if you have? : when they were germed and when they were put outside : harvested : additonal info : as randy said, would be good to keep this thread as clean as possible for next year's late starters to be able to source information from without having to start a thread asking if its to late.

    rock hard buds

If it was dealer weed it more than likely was pgrs used to make them solid. I've read it's nasty stuff. Prob why the taste/effect was not so good. But them growers don't care about that. All they interested in is weight gain for profit I can grow rock solid buds in my tent an I'm a noob. Without any boosters. Just calmag, grow and bloom. There's a lot of variables when growing. Environment/medium/nutes/breeder etc. I just try to find the sweet spot of my method and conditions.

    Drying outdoors?

I've dried plants on top of my chicken coup in the full blazing sun, buds tasted amazing (HSO), and battered the fook outta me. I too have dried plants next too a 600w, the sun worked quicker but they still tasted awesome. Direct light degrades THC into CBN, but you what, its more of an improvement than a degradation in my book, more of a relaxing smoke than trippy high.

  39. Ah I'm with you mate. Curious about scrog myself but I like being able to move my plants about, one day I might try a small one plant scrog see how it goes. Uniform tops for sure, growing from seed it's a bit easier but clones are manageable too. Might get a bit of variation in height over the three week stretch but so far it's been minimal. Quality of bud is why I started doing it and I have no complaints. Here's a few past attempts

    1st seed grow, SDG

Start of week 6 today , all seems to be going well .. ive tied down as many branches as I can and ill continue to do so every couple of days. Was a few buds foxtailing a little from the heat , but I'm doing all I can . Really starting to swell and the trichomes are coming along nicely, lovely fruity smell in the room now. I've left 2 of the lights on 400w setting due to the heat being too strong on the 600w setting , accepting it may effect yield but I'd rather that then foxtailed bud and potential hermies. 8x ocean grown cookies in 18 litre pots next , I saw mark wanting some others to grow 6 of his new strains , may consider quick gorilla as I feel I haven't grown this 1 gorilla I have in the room to it a potential ... intact far from it. Found 1 fly and couple very tiny bugs in room today , crushed bugs but couldn't identify after the slaughter lol. Gorilla SDG

    Purple Moby Dick

Update - Day 16 Bloom Okay so I'm getting a bit worried Time for an update on this fine day and hope all is well and gardens are full of bounty Yeah, these plants see, well they're goers like and I'm sweating a bit tbh. Really hoping that they've not any real stretch left to be doing because it's getting reeeeeeeeeaaaaally tight!! Aye, I've bent some over again but they don't want it, they just want to go for the stars and strong shoots that are now putting out flowers at an increasing rate As happy as a pig in shit with how these plants have come on leaps and bounds and solid breeding has gone into them. Indeed, their vigour is bang on, with smells coming along that are fruity and sweet already so looking forward now to the next few weeks and how these aromas develop further. It's been quite warm here this past week with the fair weather but they've been ok with it all and I'm surprised at how well they are taking it and not bothered by it, not even by being very close to the lamp at the moment because I'm reluctant to raise it until they are done with stretch (I want to leave this last raise for enough room to put 400 W on them and this is why I'm getting a bit worried about them stretching too much). So all looking rosy in the garden and I've upped the juice a bit (within the following data) also been bending and cropping to try and keep these in some kind of order of course, but yeah, they'd have done well in my 5's and I think I'll have to run less plants in these new tubs in future and do more tying down earlier to save me all this worry about height. The cuts I took last week seem to be doing okay too, I won't open it up yet though but in a few days I expect to being so if I see the signs Some data: - Medium - Westlands MP with JI + Vermiculite Light - 250 W Metal Halide @11/13 Temps - 29 C on / 24 C off Feed - 2ml/L Liquid Growmore + 2ml/L Velokelp Hydration - 2.5 L every other day Photos : - Left Side Right Side Full Flowers forming As can be seen above it is getting a bit tight and I might thin out a little more to ensure plenty of light to the buds, until next time though folks, thanks for watching

    Purple Moby Dick

@Dinafem-Mark I must have read your mind across the ether mate because it's done Cheers bud, yeah I took out a few leaves earlier when the lamp went on and they're basically formed up now as I don't think they have much stretch left to go now that the flowers are being produced more...They are wanting to be tall girls these and no doubt the Moby Dick coming through in the genes Mark. Very good main shoots mate, strong and they are forming up well, some suckers lower down like, which I've trimmed off and lollied up (don't think I'll be doing more on that now, just take out leaves here and there for penetration as I see them develop). Not difficult to grow these mate and usual solid Dinafem work (aromas are developing well too, especially on my favourite and think she has more of a 50/50 make up genetically as opposed to the others whereby the Moby is more dominant...reckon she'll be done a week or so earlier that the others too, just got that feeling that she's a keeper and why I took cuts )
